Removing contract from the equation, is there any reason Yelich should be in our starting lineup? Realistically, he's going to get at-bats over Taylor, even though Taylor has been the far superior player this year. Taylor has 3 more home runs and 4 more RBIs in 60 fewer at-bats, and boasts a slugging percentage more than 100 points higher.

If you base it on performance this season, then no, but of course you can't remove the contract or the fact that we paid him to be the face of the franchise for the next decade so he's going to play when able.

Counsell at least has to have the guts to move him down in the order though until he shows some signs of life at the plate.

Have to give the club some credit, brought in some pretty useful guys this year in Wong, Adames and now Escobar to really fill some major gaps in the roster. Didn't really overpay at all. If we can just get one more piece at that deadline, not sure if it is a hitter or a pitcher, feels like we have a shot with our pitching staff. Would certainly help to get any production out of JBJ, Yelli or Keston, which should have been three of our better players this season, but here we are.

Pretty quiet so far. Wonder what Stearns has cooking.

Besides Adames and Escobar trades, the Rowdy Tellez trade is also looking very good. In the bullpen, the Gustave trade and Strickland pickup looking good so far.

With the additions of Adames, Tellez and Escobar, I don't think the Brewers need another bat, but I hope they can trade for a very good closer-type pitcher before the deadline.

That move is either "just a lefty deep in the bullpen" or "Stearns sees something"

Seems like they are tying to channel a bit of the Drew Pomeranz thing again here. Failed starter but maybe will work better out of the pen.

Right...similar thought, although with Pomeranz it was apparent right away that he was already throwing better out of the bullpen with SF and his overall stats were bad from when he struggled as a starter.

As for Norris - I wonder if they see something they can use for him to get some righties out. He is very good against LHB. Maybe they think they can get him to be just average against righties.

The 3 batter rule is what makes it hard to use/acquire LOOGYs.

But maybe Norris' overall numbers look worse since the Tigers have punted so many games and simply don't care if he stays in against the meat RH part of an order.

Still think Ian Kennedy would be a really nice move if Stearns can swing it. That's the one I'm hoping for.

Nice, John Curtiss looks like a very good reliever and under team control through 2025.

Yeah that seems like a good move especially considering the brewers depth at C in the minors.

Pretty happy with what Stearns was able to accomplish without touching our top end prospects. If you take into account our earlier deals he's brought in:

Willy Adames
Rowdy Tellez
Eduardo Escobar
Daniel Norris
John Curtiss

for

JP Feyereisen
Drew Rasmussen
Trevor Richards
Cooper Hummel
Alberto Ciprion
Reese Olson
Payton Henry

We'll see how it plays out on the field with some of our new acquisitions and guys we dealt away but on paper that seems extremely well done to me.
