I enjoyed his writing when he was a fresh out of college bartender. He has been pretty dooshy for the last 12 years.

He got popular and it got to his head. He was always dooshy about the Celtics though. It just didn’t show as much when he started because they were a dumpster fire, so it just came across as nostalgic for Bird.

Based on the fact that they passed on Suggs for him, I would guess Masai is hoping Hollinger is right about his San Diego State Kawhi comparison.

And he's gonna be dead wrong because Barnes just doesn't have the same kind of shooting potential to unlock (62% FT shooter in college).

Kawhi is one of the all-time turnarounds in terms of shooting so the odds of that happening with Barnes were always going to be very low. I don't know if it helps or hurts the chances, but Barnes pretty much needs a brand new shot; there's really nothing to work with mechanically at all. It isn't just a few tweaks like it is for most guys.

I don't really think the Draymond comparisons are accurate personally; if Barnes does pan out, he's going to be a primary or secondary ball-handler IMO rather than a screener/DHO guy like Draymond basically is IMO but we'll see. I think he has a long ways to go as a scorer; Hollinger thinks people will be surprised by how good a scorer he is in the more spread out NBA.

Russell Westbrook met with LeBron James and Anthony Davis approximately two weeks ago at the house of James to discuss the possibility of playing together with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times.

So are they going to lose draft picks?

Or how about the Nets for paying players under the table?

Nope just us? Ok, got it!

It's LA-bron and Brooklyn. Of course Silver's gonna bury his head in the sand.

It'll help them in the reg season, b/c they can just let Russ cook while Lebron and AD take extended rests, but I'm not sure it'll work in the playoffs depending on their other moves.

IIRC

Players can recruit other players and it's legal thru the CBA

Just can't have GMs or agents involved.

Lebron and Westbrook is going to be fun to watch. In the same way demolition derby’s are fun to watch.

This is straight from the CBA:

Any Player who, directly or indirectly, entices, induces, persuades
or attempts to entice, induce, or persuade any Player, Coach, Trainer,
General Manager or any other person who is under contract to any other
Exhibit A A-25
Member of the Association to enter into negotiations for or relating to his
services or negotiates or contracts for such services shall, on being charged
with such tampering, be given an opportunity to answer such charges after
due notice and the Commissioner shall have the power to decide whether
or not the charges have been sustained; in the event his decision is that the
charges have been sustained, then the Commissioner shall have the power
to suspend such Player for a definite or indefinite period, or to impose a
fine not exceeding $50,000, or inflict both such suspension and fine upon
any such Player.

Didn't Draymond Green get fined 50k last year for tampering comments about Booker?

Well, there ya go, I stand corrected.

Tampering rules are only enforced on the Bucks anyway

I think Russ def can help LA especially in the regular season if he embraces deferring to Lebron & AD + he can be workhorse if one or both are missing.

lol Beal btw, he DGAF he got paid its all gravy to him

Yeah, I only knew this because I looked it up once as it's a common belief but, unless I'm misunderstanding, it's really just another example of the NBA not actually enforcing their own rules. In terms of anti-competitive behavior what Brooklyn apparently did is worse than any of this stuff.

Everyone knew the trade was going through before the draft (just like last year with Bogdanovich), it's been announced as "official" by multiple people a whole week before transactions can be finalized (August 6th), and now the report that Lebron, AD, and Russ "met at Lebron's residence two weeks ago" to coordinate teaming up.

Like, the league isn't even pretending to give a **** about tampering when it comes to Lebron and no one's bothering to call them out for it, because they know this is business as usual. Notice how careful Woj has been in his tweets making sure to not let slip any mention of "done deal, official, etc.". He's the league's **** patsy.

I believe the league punished us last off season either as a last ditch effort to try to get Giannis to sign elsewhere, or to punish the Lasry kid (or whoever was running their mouth).

Its super satisfying that the Bucks were able to take yet another market disadvantage, and still win the title. Seriously, the Lakers have it so damn easy.

Don't think Silver has the fortitude to stand up to Lebron or the Lakers org for their blatant never ending tampering, Lebron's whole set up with his agency is conflict of interest and shouldn't be allowed. Its something I can't believe I'm saying but I'm missing Stern's authoritarian mafioso leadership over Silver the Milquetoast panderer, don't think he's leading the sport in the right direction in terms of the on court product and how they market it. It's been pretty much straight downhill since Silver took over.

I agree, but really just wanted to commend you on the perfect usage of “milquetoast.” Stern was a p.o.s. person, but the league went platinum under his tyrannical leadership. Silver seems like a pleasant guy, but the league is a joke that lacks consistency and integrity.
