2021 Summer League

Post#1 » by Piston Pete » Fri Jul 30, 2021 6:22 pm

Could be a TON of fun to watch this year’s SL team. Update the lineup as updates come in:

PG - Hayes / Francis
SG - Cade / Petty / Littleson / Tarke
SF - Bey / Livers / Smith
PF - Sekou / Sirvy?
C - Stewart / Garza / Balsa

Isn't Sekou too old for this?

He's younger than Livers or Garza.

He needs it more than Stewart or Bey.

Most looking forward to seeing how a Cade/Hayes backcourt looks together.

I am super pumped about this, and as a reminder, the first Pistons summer league game is a nationally televised event on ESPN.

And some of you thought the pick would be traded. This is the new reality we all have to get used to;

Nationally covered games, and if the Pistons/Cade exceed expectations, it will get intense.

It'll be interesting to see just who ends up on summer league.

I wonder a bit if Bey and Stewart will pass since they were on the USA Select team. Might be good to let them move onto working on improving some individual skillsets rather than playing more games. That said, it would be great to see them get some time on the floor with Cade and Hayes as well.

Stew was wearing a walking boot pretty recently, so I doubt he plays in SL. I could see him there with the guys for comradery sake and chemistry, but I’d be surprised if he plays. Same with Saddiq. Maybe he practices with the guys, but I could see them holding him out of the actual games to keep him healthy.

Not really about age.. do we really want to get hyped on Sekou like back in the day with Austin DAYE

Isn't Garza, Livers and Smith all injured? Along with Stewart. Also I read an article or tweet from a beat where they guessed Bey might have played enough minutes last year to be above the Summer League.

Saben Lee probably there as well, I assume Detroit will re-sign him.

I read somewhere Livers wouldn’t be ready till October. I highly double plays in the summer league.

Yeah I believe he was just recently able to do light workouts. I don't think he's in game shape.

Garza likely plays, his groin injury was minor. Stew and Livers definitely do not. Bey is a maybe.

That’s ok. Killian and Cade together is the big thing. Lee and Garza and Sekou also interesting.

even if he wasn't injured i doubt stewart would play, same with bey. bey is already experienced enough and would just take minutes away from all the fringe roster guys. it's a shame that livers is hurt too, it'd be nice to see all the rookies play.

i'm really excited about the upcoming season but summer league ball is trash so there's a solid chance i watch five minutes and then shut it off... half kidding. the two things i'm most looking forward to seeing is how hayes has improved and how garza looks with his body transformation.

Livers might not be in game shape, but he can workout and is doing shoot arounds. Will be interested to see if he plays or not.

I believe he's still the 4th youngest member on the team, senior only to Cunningham, Hayes, and Stewart.

Yeah if Bey plays, it'll be similar to that one season where Jaylen Brown played and destroyed everyone and people questioned the need for the Celtics for bringing him on besides injury risk

Yeah I think Reggie Jackson played Summer League his 3rd year too and absolutely killed it.
