Welcome Jaden Springer

Post#1 » by 76ciology » Fri Jul 30, 2021 5:27 pm

Not the sexiest pick. Hours went by and he did not have a welcome thread. Many probably expecting him to get traded

He moves a lot like sesame seed boy

From our board’s resident NBA draft expert Kobble

The appeal of Springer is steal rate, block rate, and free throw percentage suggesting safe bet for eventual 3&D excellence. Also, enough shotcreating base for a potential bloom in 3-4 years on the ball. Looks like a lock to be a worthy rotation player on a contender. Even a chance of stardom if everything comes together as a creator (longshot but not impossible).

Don’t know much about him, but looking at the film, the best case feels like a Jrue Holiday? The worst case, maybe an E’twuan Moore?

He definitely has more handles than Zhaire, but not the crazy hops.

He looks to have good body control and seems to be crafty with his driving

Was disappointed Cam Thomas went right before the pick, not because I love him but because he's instant fun. Textbook chucker who just lets everything fly, would've started dozens of prime debates on these boards.

Interesting notes from the Ringer's breakdown of Springer's shooting: "Good shooting potential. Hit more than 80 percent of his free throws and nearly 40 percent of spot-up 3s, though both were on a small sample....Takes way too long to unleash his shot off the catch, which gives defenders time to close out. Even if he’s still open, he’ll often pass up opportunities."

I don’t mind Springer, hopefully he becomes our own Kyle Lowry.

It’s really his shot and polishing his handles is the two things I’m looking at. Likely he has the Maxey’s (wide base) on the shot from the 3 ball. Keep the feet not too far apart young one.

He seems like a decent prospect. But isnt Maxey already our backup pg? Probably should have picked a player in other position, more ready to play.

The more the merrier and talent is talent.
For us we’d take more than one young guard prospect that’s for certain lol.

I get the Biid window but a part of that is identifying and cultivating the correct prospect long term organically. Good players on rookie sized contracts are literal gold playing under a cap.

Maxey + Springer is excellent both will get plenty of minutes to play and develop.

Well if we do trade Ben, we could use some guys that can play the point depending on the trade.

Put him in the G league for 2 years and let him play. U learn nothing by sitting on the bench for 82

Actually, the more i watch him, the more he reminds me of Jimmy Butler: kinda stiff and upright, but strong upper body. Maybe that’s his best case. Looks like a tough kid.

Umm, he has a lot smoother handle than Zhaire.

His starter splits make him resemble a lotto talent much more.

Maybe his best case is Tyrese Haliburton.
