3-Way trade: your thoughts?

Oh TT, Yeah You Know Me: Kings win. They needed to swap out a guard for size and did exactly that.

The Wright Stuff: Hawks win, getting a big backup PG who can play behind, and sometimes with, Trae.

Dirty Deeds? Dunn, Dirt Cheap: Celtics win, clearing minutes for young bigs and saving $$$ for other uses.

Triple Whammy: nobody wins. This is just a shuffle of bodies that doesn't accomplish anything for anyone.

I like it for that Hawks. A small move that stops the bleeding at the 5 spot. TT is not just a good back up. He has proven to be a good veteran team mate on a playoff team. He may not be the perfect bruiser but he ain't bad.

The Hawks just got a little more physical with their 2nd unit. Provided Reddish is healthy, Dunn should not be missed at all.

Would have rather seen C's just swap TT for Wright, but this is fine. Dunn wasn't even on my radar as an option, but C's just needed some depth and getting a TPE and a 2nd isn't bad. Meh.

Hawks get some depth. Kings make room for Davion. Think everyone does fine but not great in this.

Brad should have just swapped TT for Wright, that's a little embarrassing. Chalk it up to rookie error.

Does TT preclude holmes' return?

Am I missing something? This trade makes no sense for anyone other than the Hawks.

Compared to if Boston kept Wright for themselves over Dunn, the Celtics got:

Extra $1.8M of wiggle room below the tax heading into free agency
Kept the 2nd rounder
Created a new Thompson TPE while preserving the Hayward TPE (for Wright they would have needed to take him into the Hayward one or skipped out on making the Thompson one).

This all points to wanting flexibility so will be interested to see what follows.

I see that. Wright is just as much of a need.

Okay now this makes sense. Kings clear a spot for Davion and get some much-needed size, Celtics shave a little money, Hawks get the backup PG they've needed for some time.

Positionally, it makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is that the Kings just added almost $1.2 million in salary. There has to be another shoe to drop because thy need every penny for Richaun… unless this is part the signaling that he’s gone.

If you believe Woj, SAC just got his replacement.

I don’t think he said anything saying they got a replacement. He specifically said “insurance”.

Feels like penny pinching from ownership.Wright would've been a perfect addition to round out roster. Dunn wasn't even on my radar as an option. Definitely disappointing.

They better spend on Fournier and/or Smart now.

Come to think of it. That makes sense. Plus they may have more plans set up. Too early to judge.

I don't see that

Me neither. But like the person said, this gives them less money to resign Holmes and they just got someone that plays his position. So....

I don't really try to pick the brain of Sacramento's front office. A lot of their stuff makes no sense to me.
