I have yet to see any compelling evidence that Cade Cunningham is a better prospect than Vrenz. He is a once-in-a-decade talent, like Zion or Luka or Anthony Davis.

Belgian Chocolate.

His range IMO is 18 to OKC to 39 to Sac.

Someone is drafting this kid, why it’s taken mocks this long to catch up I don’t understand.

I'm trying to get that nickname to stick.... As a Jazz fan, I think he'd be a decent replacement for Joe Ingles.

I like the idea of grooming him behind Ingles, ideal guy to mold his game after.

Buy Vrenz is raw as hell, and already 21. If you want him to succeed Ingles at a replacement level its going to be Y3 of his rookie deal at the earliest IMO.

I think Vrenz is going to be able to guard 3s and 4s and also be a bit of a help defender. His length, mobility and timing translate on the defensive end when he's motivated.

So people who have Vrenz in the 1st rd this year think he's at least Poku level prospect or better? considering this year's draft is stronger than last year's

Some saw Poku as late lotto last year. I don’t see anyone projecting that for Belgian Chocolate.

It sounds a bit weird.

what he probably means is that he has a hefty opt out clause from his contract which he can’t afford paying himself ( and clearly he is not in a position even to demand some of that release amount from drafting team )

Otherwise, it has nothing to do with going in the 2nd round or being on 2 way deal.

I heard today that #16 pick Alperen Sengun has 875K release clause as well but of course his 1st rounder rookie scale contract will be big enough to cover it himself even if rockets doesn’t pay it all.

So most likely belgian chocolate has simply no balls to pay it all himself

It’s weird. He thought he was going early second. Basically all the teams in that range worked him out. Goes un-drafted (he is better than many guys that got picked). Yet, then multiple teams offer him a two way but his euro contract doesn’t allow it. Sounds like some teams didn’t do their homework and thought they could get him cheap and keep their pick and now he isn’t under contract with them. He’ll play in the NBA eventually.

OKC traded two picks in the early 2nd round. Detroit and Memphis traded out as well. That might have affected Vrenz's plans.

Vrenz is an unrestricted FA. I assume any team can offer him a contract and bring him over. It just isn't enough of a priority for teams yet. I'm surprised no one signed him to stash him for a year. I'd have ranked him ahead of Dalano Banton at least.
