Cool. Can’t wait to see the whole video. Any idea when it might be coming out? Hopefully it includes Masai’s return as well.

I recall seeing a video of Masai locking arms with Webster and Tolzman before making the Barnes pick. Anyone see it?

Yeah I keep hearing 47 but he probably said 27 which is a little closer to the combine width of 10.25 inches.

I hope this kid still has a bit more growth in him but he is turning 20 so maybe this is it. Which is still damn good as measurements go.

until you realize 47 cm is the size of a medium/large pizza

When you actually dive in month by month on his shooting last season, it improved greatly from where it was. He had an awful first 7 games.

Scottie was obviously being slept on because of his shooting which is great for us because maybe he would have went 1/2 in this draft with better percentages even though they got better as months went by.

Just a smart pick all around. Makes total sense now. I was hoping for Mobley but i think this is just as good especially in 2-3 years when raps get this guy going.

Masai got his giannis type prospect. Happy for him

Love the kids size and athleticism but he has not shown much in terms of being a big time rebounder or rim protector- wondering if this was usage based or just not his game. Looks like more of a Pascal quick feet athlete than explosive athlete capable of blocking shots and rebounding around the rim.

The shot will be crucial but mostly in terms of taking his playmaking to the next level. If defenders can't sag off him will open up his ability to make plays but I don't ever see him as a scorer. He has said himself PG is his most comfortable position- you can teach a passer to shoot but he will still be wired to pass first. It's very hard to re wire a player this way as it's simply their instincts. With that said hes more of a smart passer than creative passer- if he was shorter his passing would be graded as just good as they are very simple passes just rare for a guy his size. He's not Ben Simmons in this regard

Overall I see his biggest attribute as switching onto smaller defenders. It's important in today's game but unsure if that skill alone was worthy of this selection. He is obviously great in transition as well. He has a very high dribble and fumbles the ball alot when making moves. I'll keep an open mind but not gonna project on hope but more what I can see (the Giannis Marion Pippen stuff is beyond wild- feel bad for him if he's coming in with these expectations on him). Watching him develop over time will be interesting and I acknowledge the upside is there but he has a long way to go.

I wonder about this. The Raptors seem to value forcing turnovers and low 3PAs more, so if the league is shooting more and more 3s, maybe it makes sense to build a team of long, mid-height athletes who just defend the hell out of the 3pt line.

The days of funneling all drives into a specialized shotblocker and rebounder might be over - as we've seen in the playoffs, the other team can just go small and play 5-out, and then that shotblocker can't hang around the basket anymore. That's why I really wanted Mobley to fall to us, he's a defensive unicorn who's both an elite shotblocker and can make crazy closeouts on the perimeter. Really only Anthony Davis is similar. Barnes is probably the next best thing but I agree he doesn't have that upside as a rim protector.

As for rebounding, in theory with teams backpedaling on offensive rebounds to get back in transition, and 3PAs leading to more long rebounds, you'd think length and speed would help us there too. It's funny, the Raptors were #1 in the league in opponents turnover % last year... and 27th in DRB%. It's a pretty extreme approach to winning the possession battle.

Makes a ton of sense. The game has changed dramatically. People love to talk about the sexyness of how the offense has changed and the increased 3's from all over the court but no one ever wants to talk about the change in defense from the result of that and how to counter attack it. Masai and Nurse not only want to counter attack it, they want to use their defensive versatility in order to kill these teams ESPECIALLY IN THE PLAYOFFS where it counts the most and where this defense becomes even more amplified.

We have to think playoffs. Thats it.

They can go either way with Barnes. Groom him into a Point 5 ala Giannis if he grows more (which he definitely will in weight once he fills out) - this is the route I think they go. Sounds crazy but not when we actually dive in. He will be big and strong enough to guard most 5's. Embiid and Jokic? Likely not .. but once he gets a shot, I dont think those guys are guarding him either on the permiter. He has the ball skills to rip it by them if they close out. The key with Barnes is his shot - thats it. Once he gets there, it's pretty much game over and changes our roster compensation completely.

I'm hearing mixed things on Siakam. He butted heads with Nurse and they put him in a deal with Simmons. We'll see. Doesnt seem like Morey is budging as of today but that may change. I do believe the Raps really want another point forward especially like simmons who was the sole pg. I dont think Siakam is a lock to start with us next season.

He wanted to come off the bench because it was the only way he could try his hand at being a PG

Wow what a gamble not getting more minutes as a starter somewhere else but it paid off for him!

That's a risky move but shows he is not a stats guy

While he definitely seems like he wants to be great, he also seems like the ultimate team player that just wants to win

I’m starting to feel that instead of a top 4, there was a top 5 in this draft.

Media had hyped up the top 4 but I bet NBA teams saw it as a top 5 draft as multiple teams attempted to trade up.

It was top 5 around lottery time with it being any of Cade, Mobley, Green, Suggs, Kuminga.

Then it turned into a top 4 (knocking out Kuminga).

This should be our annual reminder that the media perception of the draft is always different than what nba gm's think of it (at least the good ones like Masai and Presti).

After being a big Suggs guy I was disappointed but I've warmed up to the pick a lot the last few days. Can't wait to see Barnes at summer league in a few days. Really wanna see what his jumper looks like in game.

Still disappointed in this pick. Still think Suggs is a generational PG. I like Scottie Barnes but he has way more bust potential and does not fit our current roster. Even if we plan on tanking Suggs was a no brainer pick. Hopefully time will prove me wrong!

Play Barnes og Siakam at 234. Sign Jarrett Allen.
Fvv plays off ball in shooting role.

Hopefully we can just win by getting stops and running it down the floor.

I’m impressed with his shooting stroke/form/mechanics considering most guys that long have janky shots. He’s extremely young and we turned the robot that is OG into a good shooter so I’m pretty hopeful

yup, Suggs was bust proof and at worst was going to be a Jrue Holiday type player. Barnes got bust potential that I'm worried about.
