I get where fans want to get CP3. Or Lowry. Or Lillard. Or Beal.
I've also stated I think Beal is happening.
I'd rather the Knicks get some combination of Sexton, Ball, THT, Trent Jr, even Oubre - though Oubre would be last, after a few other players and definitely dependent on contract length and amount.
I can hear the arguments against it. "Not a contender". "That team is on the treadmill". "Capped out, for what?"
If done right, I think there can be a good playoff team that maintains most of it's assets, with players that are still young and can develop even more, and most crucially, players that are all attractive to other teams.
I wouldn't mind an iterative step of a couple of years of that and THEN the big move that puts the Knicks squarely into contention.
Realistically, the Knicks are going to go from outright sucking to contenders in two seasons - this offseason? I think not.
I'm just not against the kind of team indicated above. Could be good. Could be fun.
What asset you giving for Sexton?
It'll probably take Obi and a pick
I like Ball, but he can't be a Knick unless the SG is elite at shot creation into the paint.
Or, Ball can be a Knick if the PG is a three level scorer/creator type.
So, I like both players, but they also kind of need another kind of player next to them, especially Ball.
Also, this is what I would "like" but I have no idea what they will do.
For all I know, they go Schroeder\Fournier.
