poll: who is the next Magician traded ?

Post#1 » by drsd » Sat Jul 31, 2021 7:16 am

There is a clear back-log at PG and also a need to create roster time for the gazelles with some vets that could/should be shipped.

Predict the first roster move to make a balanced team.

I really think you need 6 guys for your 2 guard spots. especially with injuries, covid and protcols for next season.

PG - Fultz , Cole , MCW
SG - Suggs , RJ , Harris

so i dont see any backlog.. unless our SF , Ross , can be slated to the SG so give up one SG.

I respectfully reject your list. Let's start with the fact that Harris is the starting SG on opening night - if not traded - and not a 3rd stringer.
Ross played most of his minutes at SG last year. Fultz is not a starter until Feb 2022, at the earliest.

I did not out them in any order wether starting or not. And secondly, new coach remember? This isnt Cliff where there is a vet-bias. This is where you workyour a$$ off and beat your teammates to be the starting PG/SG.

If that means MCW is the starting SG come.opening night because RJ Harris Suggs and etc couldnt outowork him, I wouldnt be mad at the coach, id be mad at our young guys cuz that means they arent hungry enough and are coastibg with their millions.

If no player is shipped and the Magic stays healthy, I can only see Carter-Williams getting SF minutes on this roster.

SF??? You mean from the Guards? Yeah probably. Him and RJ if ever the coach wants to trot out a 3 guard lineup along with JI and a C.

But if you mean SF players, we have Ross Okeke and Wagner.

I think its going to be Ross. He is not a leader. Even last year Harris took the veteran leader role after being here for few weeks. Its hard to teach what Ross has as an offensive player but from what i heard Harris showed young guards his defensive principles. I have no doubt in my mind i prefer Harris around our young players. Ross earned a trade to a contender, he is propably also worth more.

I mean that the only playing time Carter-Williams could possible see would be at the 3. And even that would be spot minutes.

Naaaaww. I can def see him play the SG spot. Especially as a lesson to our young rooks NOT to feel entitles as what Dipo/Tobes implied when Elf, no matter what wrong he did, would always know he will be the starting PG and get minutes due to Vogel. Thus, he didn't work his weaknesses.

Do you mean that the return package for Ross would be more substantial than all other trades, or just compared to Harris?

Compared to Harris. I think Gary is better player but he is expiring and on a huge deal while Ross has two more years on good value contract.

Are you imagining the next trade is a package of Magicians?

I chose Ross but certainly not because anything is "owed to him". Harris will almost certainly be moved at the deadline, but his value today is very little-although I really like his vet presence and defensive intensity. If he regains the 3pt% that got him his $20m deal, he'll be a big trade chip for a contender. If not, his expiring deal will be attractive to a team packing it in and dumping $$.

I love TRoss and he's been very fortunate to have an "accountability" guy like Cliff (surprisingly) let him run wild as second-team flamethrower "throw up any shots you feel like" guy. He's got a lot of ability and could dial it back for a more conventional game. I would think any team in the league could benefit from having him. I like immediate gratification, but I could see him being moved for a future asset at any time. My impression that he's a non-disruptive, easygoing, fun locker room guy - not necessarily a leader or mentor type. Not really needed anymore. Give Hampton and Okeke all of his minutes and swap him for a late first or add one of our chips for a mid-first. Hopefully, RJ really did grow an inch or two and can get more minutes at SF.

I would trade Fultz, but I think Ross will be gone before the season starts.

It is an interesting question: who do fans want traded. I am confident that many votes here are about that more than evaluating the team and playing arm-chair quarterback on the next management move.

I think it's MCW. They have to decide by August 9th on Bacon, he's only partially guaranteed.

Ross makes the most sense. Teams will be looking to add another scorer if they miss out on a FA. Not many teams this year have straight out cap space so a lot of trades could happen in place.

I would honestly like to see Fultz gone but don’t know if his contract is moveable and how much value he’s going to bring once he comes back. I would personally also use the trade exception to take on a bad contract and see if we can get some assets as well.

We’re in a rebuild so Ross and Harris. Ross can be a contributor to any playoff team and on a great contract. Harris, some playoff team will take a chance on him and hope he’s back close to the player he was a few years ago.
