I don't get the stance that some people have that Barnes/OG/Siakam can't coexist. They're all very versatile and have pretty varying styles of play. The thought of the Barnes/OG/Siakam trio with FVV wreaking havoc on the defensive end is extremely exciting to me too. Not sure who that 5th player may be right now, but that has to be a top defensive lineup in the league.

Two of the three can't shoot right now. If Barnes learns to shoot or if Siakam can shoot like he did in 2018-2020, then that lineup becomes a lot better.

Honestly...if you went by only the FSU clips...ya...Scottie's shot looks bad. However...it does look like it's come a long way since...judging by the combine video and the Open Gym video. The form and rhythm just looks smooth. Now I'm curious to see him use it in-game. Yes...August 18th can't come soon enough.

Like I had said...I hope he gets the green light to let his shots fly and isn't too unselfish. I know it's easy to over-rely on the pass and the drive...but we need him to develop the scorer's mindset...

Can someone repost the combine video and the Open Gym video please?

Look how ridiculously uncoordinated OG looked just shooting (nvm his childish like ballhandling) coming out of college and go watch highlights of him now. It's insane growth and Barnes is easily ahead of him as a ballhandler and passer. Very encouraging stuff to see...

What's crazy is so many people on this board are high on og calling him a future star etc... I've never been as high on og as anyone simply because he lacks the overall mobility, ball handling body control that stars possess...

Barnes is younger than og, has a similar physical profile, and yet already has much better natural handling, coordination and playmaking than og alrrady, and is supposed to be just as elite defensively and yet people don't like him? Weird. Meanwhile let's not forget og didn't have a shot coming into the league either and look where he is now... I mean, idk why people would be high on og who has much less upside, and down on Barnes...

Ngl. Seeing Barnes’s shot drastically better than the game film I watched has helped me through this lol. But now that we got him I’m all in on going all tall and atheistic. If we can pry Barrett from the Knicks for a deal centred around Fred I’m happy as well. Let’s have all long guys on the roster who can dribble pass and shoot

Not saying that I don't buy the rumour that Suggs had a bad workout for us, but I find it interesting that teams put so much stock into a shooting workout when there's easily accessible video of all these guys playing full games, with a way bigger sample size and actual in-game shooting that can be analyzed.

I have complete faith in this front office but just find this rumour interesting. I feel like they likely had Barnes ranked higher going into workouts and Suggs didn't do anything to change their mind and blow them away, while Barnes actually impressed with his measurements and workout.

With Scottie in the fold we now have the personnel to run box and one on both sides of the floor.

27.

kawhi was 28.5

his handle is going to be deceivingly tight as long as he spends time with that footwork.

It's the Kawhi thumb to pinkie, with "conversion". Idk I still hear 47, maybe it's my cans.

It's the "Iv'e never seen that before" that gets me. We had Kawhi.

I had the same thought. Presumably, the trainers didn't measure Kawhi.

From all accounts DJ was extremely under-utilized in his sophmore season and played a position he was uncomfortable in. He's a guy that wants the ball in his hands, wants to be the facilitator but instead played off the ball. What I do like about him is his athleticism, his defense and his playmaking. His 3pt shooting went up from year 1 to year 2 which is a good sign, unfortunately his fg% plummeted. Definitely an intriguing prospect that can probably develop into a pretty solid NBA'er in our development system.

Yeah, it could be improved - that could be said for the majority of rookies.

The mechanics look good. Doesn't seem to get much lift from the legs...that would be helpful in getting his shot off once official games are played, and there are actual players defending his shot.

Other than that, the mechanics look real good. Pause.

He shoots from the center of his body instead of to the right of his face. His tray position is too low. His shooting hand isn't cocked back nearly enough.

But the actual movement/mechanics and follow-through aren't bad at all. Should be easily fixed.

Barnes' shooting will likely improve over time. But he has to add more to his bag because his half court game is pretty weak currently. But with his decent handles, he's got a solid foundation to build from.

I'm in the process of watching Scotties whole college season. I think a big part of the shooting concerns is that the misses are really bad. Obviously, the results of his shooting are not good (the percentages) but it feels like many people are reacting to how fugly the misses are.

The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.

Listening to chad ford, johnson was a really under the radar pick because he had a great freshman season and they told him to go back and improve his shot, which he did. However, lousville kinda messed him up this year because they put a point guard beside him and that was his position

100%.

Practice to build that muscle memory. We can that that would apply for the large majority of the players in the NBA.

Goddamn, I am getting excited.

I see a player who has reworked his mechanics and now has a passable set shot. It’s a good start and he’s clearly open to any adjustments our development staff can offer which is all positive.

I’m feeling a lot better about the pick but he’s only going to go from high end role player to a true offensive threat if he develops a pull up jump shot. That could take a few years though so be prepared. Until then every time he brings the ball up the floor teams will sag off limiting most of his options, preventing drives to the rim and nullifying his passing ability.
