I was saying, in another thread.:

What the heck was the thought, when we disrupted the Gordon Hayward TPE?
We could have used the whole thing, on 1 player. ($28.5M)

So why did we go out and get him, and his Bird Rights, in the first place?
If we weren't going to retain him?

What teams with cap space are going to give him 4/80? This just seems like normal negotiation **** with 'leaks' to the press (for now).

If they let him walk, they really better nail next season because it's just money. ****, even just turn him into another TPE if you can, I'll take that.

On the edge of my seat waiting to see if Brad can get a Fournier TPE.

Hmm. So we got a 2 month rental who missed a lot of games once he got here. And you gave up 2 2nd round draft picks for that. Another sign it was time for Ainge to go. This was not the season to get a good player at the deadline, the season before that was.

Can Brad do a sign and trade or does he let him walk.

Knicks will get him for 4 years/$70 million. Maybe the Spurs.

I felt like the Celtics had a small chance to retaining him. They were looking for a shorter term contract of about 2 years/$36 million. No way they are matching any offers of 3 or 4 years.

Keith Smith on the Front Office Show said he heard Fournier might have multiple $20+ mil a year offers

EF is gone, baby, gone. He is simply not worth tying up 20 mil for each of the next 4 years. Let's see who else Brad can bring in and/or what Nesmith can do. Keep the Beal dream alive.

I agree. Nice player, but especially not that complementary with a multiple Jays team, for the cost. These Olympics are also the first time we've seen him come up big in pro-level tournament play. I hope that is flashing a new dynamic to his game.

I don’t care that we gave up 2 second round picks for him. Those are beyond worthless. I do not care that TPE of 28 million is not available right now because there is nobody available and a hard cap sign and trade for Ball or Collins doesn’t excite me enough. I do think the team should pony up the dough for Fournier because I think he will be very tradable at the deadline if the team wants to get a max contract guy next year or if a guy like Beal or Lillard is available because their teams suck and they are clearly opting for FA.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Au Revoir, Evan.

On a side note we need to stop wasting assets soon.

Good. Good luck and all but i was saying since February that out of the 3 Magic players available at the time, we got the worse.
We've got to be smarter.

How much more does Fournier make if covid doesnt make him completely useless for the Celtics? What stings is if you give up assets to try a guy out, I don’t see how you can complain he’s too expensive when he gets the worst contract of any scenario.

Yeah, Fournier was having a good year, the price tag isn’t surprising. Just another poor decision by Ainge. :banghead:

If we didn’t trade for Fournier could have used the TpE for Lonzo. Just sayin.
