Wasn't this put to bed with Antawn Jamison ten years ago? The advantages you generate with tweeners generally involve playing them up to put pressure on potentially slower defenders and to improve your spacing. Even if Rui could handle most defensive assignments as a 3 and Gafford could often get by as a 4, which both might, you're not clearly getting an offensive advantage doing so - you're putting a lot of players on the court who afford defenses more latitude to help off and essentially no sell their primary assignments and putting essentially all of the pressure to create on your guards.

You're already getting the upside of Rui's strength and sort of passable post game because of the volume of switching that happens as a natural part of every defensive scheme in the NBA at this point - his post looks are easy enough to create when he happens to have a shooting guard swap onto him or the like. I can't think of a commensurate advantage Bryant at the 4 would even be looking to leverage - his standout offensive strengths are his rim running and his perimeter shooting both of which are more usefully leveraged against the subset of centers in the NBA that still aren't quick to jump on perimeter covers. NBA power forwards don't give a **** about extending coverage the same way these days.

we just move to hockey shifts; each shift sprints for 10 minutes at a time.
No one can keep up with us and we just exhaust other teams into losing ...

Bryant can't guard at the 5. How is he going to defend a perimeter four? If you say move Gafford to the 4, WTF did we acquire him? To protect the rim and defend the paint.

again, you just run the other teams off the court. we got to points last year when we were getting close to doing that.

If it was put to bed Ed Wood (and it is nice hearing from you!) I need remedial re-education.

The deepest that I can understand this at this time it should just let rui destroy guys inside at 3. You send Bryant outside to pick and pop even if he is technically playing Center but I would consider him the four on offense. Gaffer just Rim runs

I think the best defense is offense when you have a player that either can do like Ripple Hamilton which is keep moving off the ball or Jameson with your score inside and out.
