Youngsters: Poole, Moody, Kuminga, Paschall, Wiseman

Rotation: Nico, Lee, Batum, JTA, Looney

Did you accidently mix these 2?

Jerry Colangelo just trashed Love for being out of shape.

I wouldn't even take him @ vet min at this point. Unless he is working his ass off rn.

At the vet. minimum, I would take the risk. If he's a thicc boy, he can play at the 5 with the extra cushion. But damn, are the Cavs really thinking of buying him out?

GP2 is gone. Did you see Myers try to give his number away to Kuminga at the press conference? Even after Kuminga said, "Gary". Myers was like, "you want it, you can have it". Myers is low key savage.

(Note: I find it kind of funny that some people seemingly think it’s a given that Chriss would come back, and include him on the roster, and ignore the fact that we actually traded him to San Antonio last year, so he doesn’t have any current ties to the Warriors. But I digress.)

Batum has added heft and strength, and actually played some small-ball center for the Clippers last year. I think that he and Draymond together in the closing line-up would be fantastic. Previously I’ve been favoring going after Otto Porter with the TP MLE, but based on yesterday’s draft, I’d put Batum as the top target now. (Though I wouldn’t be disappointed if we ended up with Porter, who is more of a 3/4 hybrid, whereas Batum has actually evolved to more of a playmaking 4/5 hybrid.)

I actually suspect that back-up PG isn’t as much of a priority for the front office. Call it “reading between the lines”, but I think the Warriors are expecting Mannion to contribute pretty readily last year, and it’s hard not to squint and be able see that. He’s been really impressive playing (and somewhat leading) the Italian team in qualifying and the Olympics themselves, but we think he’s not good enough to be a contributor on our roster? Poole can obviously make plays for himself and others, and I think they’re looking at Mannion as being at least the 3rd-team PG (with Poole being 2nd-team), and maybe even a full back-up.

Where I think there are going to be a lot of “casualties” is amongst Mulder, Lee, Payton, and Smailagic (obviously). I’d honestly expect Lee to be the only one to be back, but it’s possible none of them will be.

And I suspect we’re going to try to move on from Paschall, trying to trade him for a second-round pick from somebody (even if it’s protected), largely because we’ll need the roster space.

So here’s what I think we may end up like when all is said and done.

Curry / Poole / Mannion
Klay / Moody / Lee (and Poole)
Wiggins / JTA (and Moody and Kuminga?)
Draymond / Batum / Kuminga
Looney / Wiseman / Dieng

(And one other possibility - if Jessup blows us away in Summer League, he could displace Lee.)

I'm very much in line with what you wrote. I think Nico's role is 3rd PG.
I just finished watching his last game against Nigeria and you can see he's good, but he sometimes forces too much and he needs to work on his 3 pt shot. However he it the 3 that sealed the game for Italy, which is good. He's not ready to be the backup PG, but he's improving and he deserves a spot imho.

Batum is the obvious top target, he can also be a point forward and play almost all our positions of need. He can be the starting SG at the beginning of the season when Klay is not ready, he can play the backup 3 to Wiggins and the backup 4 to Dray. He can also be a smallball center as he did against Utah in the playoff.
I really wanted him last summer when everybody was down on him, I want him even more now that he had a good season.

As for the center, I think Chriss has personal ties with the players on the team, they seem to like each other. Don't underestimate the fact that Chriss was a bust and out of the league until the Warriors picked him up.
I like all of Olynyk, Theis, Dieng though. We just need a stopgap to give Wiseman time to develop and Looney is solid.

Myers mentioned Damion Lee a few times in the press conference, so I think he's considered a keeper. He's also has strong ties with Steph, so they're not doing him dirty as long as he proves a useful player.

Agree with everything here.

TP-MLE for a veteran wing should be the "big" move in FA for us. Batum is my prime target as well, because he is such a well rounded player. But if that doesn't work out, maybe we could get Rudy Gay or Danny Green?! Could live with that, too. After that the options become much less convincing.

Jock Landale (Australias starting 4) should absolutely be in the NBA. Great size at 6'11, 260. He's long, smart, can really shoot. 55% FG and 39% from 3 this season.

I know he had training camp offers when he was younger but he's a hell of a player now (just won the finals MVP here too )

How much is the tax bill dollar-for-dollar on FA money spent? Is it $4 tax on ever $1 spent?

Tyreke Evans isn’t going to help a team win in ‘21-‘22. Arguably his best year was ‘17-‘18 with Memphis, but he started to look washed up the following year in Indiana, and I have no reason to believe 2 years away from the game would improve him.

So having spent the past few months thinking draft, its now time to move over to the FA thread.
I don't have any highly unique take, I like the same guys as everyone else, starting with Nic Batum and Patty Mills.

I'm curious about the cost of OPJ, Rudy Gay, Dougy McBuckets, and Daniel Theis.

TPMLE targets / hopes
Batum
Mills
Theis
McDermott

I tend to think only Batum is possible and realistic

Vet Min targets / hopes:
Gay
OPJ (on a prove-it deal)
Iguodala

I'm guessing this is Iguodala who would be great for the locker room, but not so much for the court.

Not ideal, but being prepared for reality:
Bazemore
Ariza
Chriss
E'Twaun Moore
Kaminsky

Batum will be in demand. May get MLE interest.

Otto Porter may not be able to get MLE so playoffs teams will want him for minimum.

Gay and temple in similar category.

All I know is if we end up with Mo Harkless & Ish Smith and the Lakers add Rudy Gay and Demar Derozan for pennies I’m going to be upset.

MLE needs to be on a backup point, I'd target McConnell or Rivers

DeRozan is out on the Lakers. Wants more than they can pay.

Langston Galloway for the vet. minimum. Dude is trash or is he worth the vet. minimum?

By the way, I keep forgetting that we still have the Wannamaker TPE. Just slightly more than the vet. minimum.
