Re: 2022 NBA Draft
Ben Simmons that can shoot and score with less defense? Yes please. At his size and height it ain’t going to matter 6”10” or 6”11” he’s huge. Maybe Lamar Odom with less pop? Different body type though
I mean from the eye he looks bigger then Tatum already.
From the clip he’s doing exactly what Ben does in the NBA except Paulo can shoot/score. He’s a lock in the top 3 easy.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft
Do you guys think the 2022 NBA Draft will be just as strong or even stronger than 2021’s?
2021 basically had “three #1 picks” in terms of their overall talent/upside level (Cade, Green, Mobley).
2022 looks to have at least two #1 tier picks atm (Holmgren, Banchero).

Re: 2022 NBA Draft
every class has its strengths/weaknesses
but overall no, doesn't look at as good as 2021
the guards especially look weak...not sure if I'd have one in my top10 right now...but definitely good on the combo forward/big types, and the international class looks strong.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft
i'm hoping some internationals come in and save this NCAA guard class b/c it's terrible right now unless i am missing something, don't really see any top 15 guys except maybe Ivey/Hardy but I am not super sold on either really yet
4/5s are a freak show tho, if u want a combo big/forward this is the class for you.

Matthew Cleveland (6'6 SG) of FSU may prove to be a sleeper. Word down in Tallahassee is that there is an expectation that he will be a one-and-done. We'll see. I actually expect them to have a down year next year. The bigs are deplorable.

we'll see, i like Mathurin who came back but still not really that lotto guard type at this point, we'll see how he develops.
to me it might come down to the international guards (montero, dieng, boud), which i actually like...the international class in general in 22 is gonna be stupid good.

AJ Griffin obviously has the potential to be a top 5 pick, but he's kind of an unknown quantity right now since he didn't play last year.

Is Hardy a top ten guy? Someone said he's small but looks about the same as Eric Gordon to me, (and that body type usually plays up pretty well, so no real concern that people just go right through him) and if you tell me there's someone who has a good chance to be healthy rockets Eric Gordon I'd go for that in almost any drafts top ten
I think people overlook that if someone is actually a real credible threat from way beyond the 3 point line that changes defense just about as much as anything other than a dominant star
Some of the better guards seems to just miss the cutoff date right? Scoot Henderson and Amari Bailey etc is both 2023?
Hardy has gotten a lot more sturdy in the last year, so now he really looks a lot like the James Harden / Eric Gordon body type of sturdy guards, although the step back and name and even general look certainly reminds a lot of Harden (but right handed), I think Eric Gordon is probably the more reasonable comparison, they're literally almost the same size from height to wingspan, but either way, the selling point is that he shoots it from way downtown, has almost every shot in the book and the release point is just a thing of beauty, (almost Dirk like, though obviously, he's not a 7 footer. ) I think he's probably the most surefire shooter I've seen that's a higher-end prospect I've seen in a while. Though I do note that with him getting more sturdy he is also not as shifty as he was a year ago, which is another reason why I'm thinking more along the line of Eric Gordon, a guy who actually has a lot more skill but because the dominant skill is so obvious he looks more like a one-dimensional bomber.

im keeping an open mind on Hardy, obviously he has some skills/tools to work with and it's a weak G class, but i don't have him top10 currently, we'll see. same with Ivey.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft
Who do we think are the teams most likely competing for #1?
Looking around the league I’ve never seen more bad teams with real hope before to move forward.
Cavs/Pistons have potential stats and young starters that fit together 1-5
Magic are maybe the flattest team I’ve ever seen where they have like 8 prospects that all seem intriguing but none stand out
Rockets got an enormous talent injection
Obviously the Thunder will be terrible as they added little to nothing this year. They have to be favorites to finish last
Other teams moving backwards are the Bulls and Kings I think.
My guess for bottom 5 is
30. Thunder
29. Rockets
28. Magic
27. Kings
26. Spurs

Spurs won't be that low imo, i think Spurs are a PO team this year possibly
also you never really know...at this time we never thought Dubs would be picking #2 overall in 2020, never thought the Rockets would be picking #2 overall in this draft...**** changes quickly in the NBA.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft
We’ll still be bottom 5 imo. And everyone will be upset when we get another high pick lol.
Mobley isn’t ready to make a positive impact in year one. Rookies hardly ever do, plus bigs take time. And in Mobley’s case he needs to bulk up significantly. We still have maybe the worst shooting in the league, especially since Love probably won’t play a game for us. And we still have no quality wings on the roster.
As much as I want this team to show some improvement and win ~35 games next year, I don’t see it happening. Hopefully one more year of being near the bottom of the standings results in us drafting a good wing prospect.

I’m pretty unfamiliar with this class, and I generally don’t trust my ability to judge guys off the high school highlights. I don’t think I’m as high on Holmgren as most because his frame frankly scares me, and he’s already 19 so it’s not like he’s really young for the class or anything which would leave more room for development. I’m really intrigued by Jovic. Banchero looks good. For us specifically, AJ Griffin and Matthew Cleveland are a couple ones I’m keeping my eyes on.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft
I have a hard time seeing Cavs finishing bottom 5
1. They finished 5th last season but were absolutely wrecked with injuries. Like the most injured team in the league.
2. They play hard. Say what you want about the talent but everyone on this team tries. We never shamefully tanked the way OkC, Detroit, Houston, Orlando did.
3. Depth/Improvement. Okoro led the team in minutes and took major strides towards the end of the year. If he grows like Sexton/Garland did and Sexland continues to improve that’s a lot of organic growth. In addition Cedi and Dean Wade both finished top 6 in minutes for us and are likely squeezed completely out of the rotation. Doctson was 8th and will barely play as well. Mobley/Allen/Nance will replace all the wasted minutes from those guys and Drummond.
There are some major concerns I get it. Our 3 point shooting is terrible but for whatever reason it was all of our bad 3 point shooters taking the shots. Garland finished 10th in 3s/100 possessions and Sexton 13th!!! That’s **** insane and inexcusable. The only good shooter to finish top 5 in 3s/possession was Love. This is an easily correctable problem with some scheme changes rather than talent changes assuming JB pulls his head out his ass
Wing depth and 3 point shooting are a concern but let’s say we land someone like Doug McBuckets in FA. Suddenly our rotation is
PG: Garland/Rubio
SG: Sexton/Okoro
SF: Okoro/McBuckets
PF: Mobley/Nance/Wade
C: Allen/Mobley
That’s 9 guys who are all legit rotation caliber. Nobody super high impact unless Garland or Mobley pops off, but still everyone gives a **** and will work hard
We had a G-league team playing a lot of last season. We also want to start trending in the right direction.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft
Since the 2021 draft is over, I'll start focusing on the 2022 and thus far have tried to stay away from highlights or rankings. Anyone here who could link me to some full games that are worth watching to get an idea of some prospects?
