Not shocking. Weaver is cleaning house, forcing minutes to the young guys, and saving cap.

No surprises here. The right moves.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Kinda surprising to me. A part of me thought Casey would go to bat hard for bringing back CoJo.

I feel like this at least tentatively pencils Killian into the starting lineup, which I figured was about 50/50 before this.

Jerami and Jahlil are basically the last 2 vets on the team at the moment.

Terrible to trade Roby plus seconds for a guy who couldn’t play. Such a bad move. I really don’t understand why S needed to go. I guess that he was really that bad.

When they made an offer to bring back Frank Jackson, CoJo was done. Neither players are in long term plans for this team.

I still don’t think Weaver will make a big move in FA. He’s setting up for the max next year. This (and Plumlee deal) was done to force Casey into playing young guys and saving money.

K. Hayes/F. Jackson/S. Lee
C. Cunningham/H. Diallo
S. Bey/J. Jackson/I. Livers
J. Grant/S. Doumbouya
I. Stewart/T. Cook/L. Garza

There's zero chance that Weaver makes no transactions the rest of the offseason and it's a mistake if they don't find a legit big to push Stewart. I'm a Stew fan but you can't just hand him the keys with a bunch of filler backing him up, he hasn't shown enough yet to earn that. I'd be shocked if Weaver doesn't spend on a center/power forward.
Actually, you forgot about Okafor but he also qualifies as filler.

I also think there's a decent chance that Josh Jackson is dealt, I always thought they would move on from one of Diallo, F. or J. Jackson. I think Josh is the odd man out.

I don’t see Okafor sticking around. He served his role in getting us the #1 pick. Now he can go also.

Yeah Stew is good but penciling him as our definitive starter is going to make us fairly thin at the front court. Especially since Stew is a fouling machine and if he has early foul trouble, that's a lot of load on Okafor and Cook to compensate. We're going to have some ugly rotations this season

Who is this Diablo, ese?

Livers or Garza can go on a 2-way, leaves room for 1 FA. Yeah, save the space for taking some salary, in a trade. JJ & his expiring contract + capspace, could get someone decent.

That was a full on favor to the stefanski family. Hence why Weaver got hired. I’d really like to know troys full on opinion on everything to do with the Deividas experience.

I’m honestly asking, is McGruder cut yet?

Sounds like his decision date isn't until 8/15..but I would assume he'll also be gone.

Must be a later date, for a decision to be made.

I believe it was the Tellem family that got the favor since Michael Tellem (Sirvydis' agent) is Arn Tellem's son and he's an exec or whatever the hell with us.

Just a really dumb situation all around

Yeah, the Sirvidas thing always smelled funny.

I'm glad the ties have been severed.

Cojo? Better than expected but he was never in the plans.

Cook shouldn't make the team either. Opening up two roster spots before any trades. Okafor could just be cut as well if Garza not on a 2-way.
Weaver = Hinkie
VW to Portland

I actually like cook. He’s a low-maintenance, hard-working bench big who can give you a productive 10-15 minutes in a pinch. sekou and JJ are the guys I think are in weaver’s crosshairs next.

I think Cook can be that vet presence at C, and has history with Garza at Iowa.

I think Killian, JJ and Sekou could be on the cusp this year. But I’d give them extended looks to figure it out.

I hope we sign our FA’s and use the rest of the space for a trade this years FA market sucks.
