Welp, as much as I was looking forward to seeing Punk and Brian Danielson on AEW, I'm not gonna watch it. What they allowed Nick Gage just do was a disgrace to pro wrestling, and the consequence is they just lost a fan forever. To me, they just completely ruined everything that so many outstanding athletes there have worked so hard to create.

It was just a CZW style death match main event vs Chris Jericho. Light tubes, pizza cutter, glass pane. Lots of blood. Some people hate that kind of thing. Also Nick Gage has a sordid history and people dislike him because of it.

Haven't seen it yet and while it's not why I would watch it is just 1 match on the show.

It's also possible that putting it on a stage that big is designed to generate conversation for AEW.

Cena and Goldberg return to WWE for Summerslam but AEW is the big topic behind Bryan, Punk and now a "death" match.

I kind of think Kahn is smarter than people give him credit for considering he's a life long fan of the business

There is a reason death matches aren’t on TV. It’s very niche.

I do appreciate they let Gage be Gage. They didn’t neuter him at all.

But I can also say I enjoy technical wrestling matches a lot more. I enjoy lucha type matches a lot more.

Been watching or following off and on since 1986 and watching death matches isn't for me.

Would prefer that "style" doesn't exist so here's hoping Gage got his moment and goes back to whatever he was doing prior.

BTW did anyone else catch the completely obvious Darby shot at CM Punk?

That's the Nick Gage specialty. He's a death match guy like Mick Foley and Terry Funk. I personally don't mind that stuff once in a Blue Moon. But I think a match like that should have been Jericho's "Final stage" and not part 2. Like next week he has a match against Juventud. I would think the death match with Nick Gage would be the hardest challenge.

Are they really not gonna do Omega (c) vs Hangman at All Out?

The death match was a bit much, but nothing worse than things WWE has done in the past. Dont think AEW will lose sleep if 1 or 2 fans threaten to boycott, they know they have the superior product. Page is already more over than anyone in WWE right now, and Punk is on his way.

The whole deathmatch thing really isn’t for me — nor is Nick Gage as a wrestler/character. AEW fans don’t really boo anything so I guess to TK it was a success and made sense to bring him in, but that style of match does nothing for me. And it’s not like it’s a match they pull out every once in awhile; they just ended their show last week with a deathmatch (Mox vs Archer).

What he did?

The pizza cutter was the last straw for me - though it was a good lead-in to the Dominos commercial.

Seriously, I meant what I said. I'm not threatening to boycot - as some poster here put it - I'm done. This was their 2nd straight show with a "death match". Last week's wasn't anywhere near as bad, and I didn't even complain about it. This one - obviously people disagree with me - but I think it was nothing more than violence porn and an insult to everyone who's worked in good faith to make this a great organization they can be proud of. To each his own.

Ah yeah that spot made me cringe but yeah to each their own. Maybe I wasn't as invested to the character since it was purely violence for me and I wasn't able to sympathize. Having said that, putting him as level 2 got me thinking it'll only get worse but hopefully not. Maybe AEW is trying to showcase different types of wrestlers. Hopefully Juventud is in great shape

I didn't even notice the commercial to be honest. Ridiculous timing if unplanned.

Bray Wyatt was released from WWE due to ‘budget cuts’ today. I’m sure it’ll have fans asking, “should he join AEW?”, if they aren’t already.

My answer would be yes, but eventually. You can’t bring every talent in and have it be hot. You gotta let the names that you’ve already brought it have story lines develop, and when things settle in a year or two, it’d be a good idea.

Difference between Gage and Foley/Funk is both those guys could actually work. Gage has no talent so he’s basically turned the show Jackass into a style of wrestling. Yet another reason why every time I tune in or hear something about AEW it’s usually LOL or cringe worthy.

Unfortunately I think that’s a problem that starts at the top. Khan is a Mark and I don’t know how you combat that short of an ownership change.

Just looking over these crazy rumors and the AEW roster...

A wrestling show with:
Andrade
Moxley
Omega
Page
Jericho
Miro
Malakai
Lesnar
Punk
Bryan
Cole

Is sick. Only WWE could make a boring wrestling show with all that talent.

Funny thing is, they already did, just take out Omega and Page

And you still have solid workers across the board with main event written all over them in Pac, Pentagon, Fenix, Cody, Brian Cage, Christian Cage, Archer

This is bigger than the WCW-WWF Monday Night Wars

WWE doesn't consider themselves as a wrestling company anymore.
It's all about content creating.

Well that's been true for almost 40 years.
