Come the F on EvanZ. Look at what you're complaining about now? Concerns about his defense is one thing and totally justifiable. You're complaining that hes "this far behind in English he needs a translator". Your dislike for him is confusing to say the least.

Yeah I mean Yao Ming needed a translator for pretty much his whole career, right? And he was still an 8x all-star

6th year:

Youtube doesn't seem to have any post-game from earlier than 2009.

Anyways, Yao was all right at English after 2-3 years.

So for all the posts here claiming Sengun was "no taller than 6-7, 6-8, or 6-9 in shoes".........................we once again have the same issue of some NBA fans automatically making any player from Europe smaller than they actually are for no reason, other than what must be believing untrue NBA marketing gimmicks ("all NBA players are bigger and taller than any other players").

I saw a European draft report where they said Sengun had measured at 6-10 3/4 in shoes, at his NBA workouts. And that the NBA teams were surprised at how he was bigger than they thought, because so many people kept saying he was only like 6-9 in shoes.

Once again, we had a European player automatically made 2 inches smaller than he really was, just because so many NBA fans can't accept that all the players in Europe are not small.

At 6-10 3/4 in shoes, that would pretty much match what his last official height listing was in Europe, which was 6-9 1/2 without shoes on. But we had page after page here of people arguing there was no way he could be taller than 6-8 or 6-9 in shoes. Yet he came out at just around 6-11 in shoes............

So one thing I don't remember coming up here but have heard now from numerous folks the last few days is how down the Turkish League was this year due to COVID.

The league was the same as it has been recently.

It was heavily competitive about a decade ago with many teams accessing generous sponsors. Nevertheless, this does not mean it was piece of cake last season, either.

In fact, i came back here to paraphrase myself when i said earlier that he would most likely understand passable english if not able to express himself.

Having seen his post draft interview, i realized that i was way too optimistic to hope so. His english skills seem to be close to non existent.

Assuming 1 inch soles for all. Sengun is around 6’10.5 in shoes. Jones is about 6’11 in shoes. And Mobley is like 7’0.5 in shoes.

I agree, all you had to do was watch his tape and you can clearly see a young gifted kid playing at an elite level already with grown professional men. I mean he is still growing. His NBA listed wing span in now 7'ft 1/2.

my concern is he plays smaller and no one views him 6-10 big body like sabonis. i think he has big bust not bc he is bad but his playing style is not liked by nba. i wonder why he even moved here when he should have gone to RM and get top dollars like mirotic.

It's hilarious that people were wringing their hands anticipating that Sengun would be shorter than advertised...and instead it's Cade who's shorter than advertised. Can't make this **** up.

It was at the same general level it's been at. Not as good as the big continental leagues, not as good as Spanish and Russian leagues, and around the level of the next leagues like Italy, Greece.

I don't see any big difference in the level of the BSL from recent seasons at all.

anyone who thought Cade was 6-8 was fooling themselves...he was always closer 6-6 as a prospect...that has always been the lens I viewed him in so it doesn't change much for me

I honestly thought he was 6'8"...at that size, I could almost buy him being a sneaky good defender sort of like Kyle Anderson. At 6'6" with subpar athleticism, I don't know what position he defends in the NBA. You probably don't want him chasing speedy guards around the perimeter, and he's gonna be overwhelmed by the NBA's big, athletic wings. Puts a lot of pressure on him to keep developing his ballhandling/passing skills in order to be a net positive.

They convinced themselves Lamelo was 6’8 just last year. Everyone getting a top pick that they are unsure about wants them to be 2-3 inches taller than they really are. Notice how you never see people bicker over the height of dominant, generational talents lol.

well it wasnt much of a problem for me because I didnt view him as a swingman, only as a combo guard, which 6-6 and a 7ft w/s is an obvious plus, plenty enough size to defend all 1s/2s no issue.

Mobley is 7’ and he’s clearly at least a couple inches taller than Sengun from these photos.

And now it is a moot question, he's been drafted.... and they're still going.

Probably the most boring 'argument' or whatever you want to call it I've ever seen. Normally there is some entertainment value with 2 posters going at it over a prospect but this was just horrible.

Yeah, the height discussion is boring.

Image

Image

Josh Christopher measured 6'4.5 in shoes at the combine. Whiteside measured 6'11.5 in shoes. I think it's reasonable to say he looks around 1.5 inches shorter than Whiteside, and around 5 inches taller than Christopher. Sengun is no less than 6'9.5 in shoes and probably 6'10. His wingspan is 7'0.5, so considering Sengun's popular comparison - Kevin Love - measures 6'9 in shoes with a 6'11.25 wingspan, having over an inch in wingspan and an inch in height on him gives him plenty of size for the PF position and probably allows him to play center in spurts considering his defensive instincts are clearly superior at the same age to Love's. Sengun is also a naturally better playmaker imo, as Love was always overrated in that area outside of his outlet passes.

If Sengun develops his shot the way he's projected to, he'll have no issues making a huge impact. If he doesn't, then yeah he'll probably struggle defensively as an undersized center and his overall value will be considerably less.

Yeah if anyone is good enough at what they do the teams will probably just build around to cover his weakness, and no one do that more over the top than the Rockets have in recent years heh, not saying that Sengun is likely to be that sort of guy of course, unless he just turns into like Jokic or something.

I think he's likely going to be at least a valuable long term player of some sort though, but obviously if you're not a obvious max player then your value is always relative to the contract.
