Most teams will prefer Ball, Lowry and Dinwiddie. I would look at the teams that are pursuing them that miss out. I’m guess would be a Kemba deal happens after the other guys are off the table.

Teams that are looking for a new or upgrade at PG:
Mavs
Pelicans
Heat
Clippers
Bulls
Knicks
Celtics
Wizards
Raptors maybe?

Ball, Lowry, Dinwiddie, Schroeder, Dragic are all likely to get picked up by one of those teams, but that still leaves quite a few leftover. Don't think it'll be too hard to move off of him in the next week or so, kind of wouldn't be shocked to see him go to the Clippers if we're not opposed to trading with them with our draft pick incentives there.

Note: The Thunder are over the salary cap because of their trade exceptions.

Is that right ? I saw this on an ESPN page. Didn't we use the 9,7 million exception for Favors ?

we probably used the Gallo trade exceptions. Still 3 more trade exceptions (happy if we can use one more, the Adams one would be huge).

But is it right, that trade exceptions count on our salary cap ? That would be new for me.

You are either under the cap (capspace team) or over the cap ( with TPEs) . We don’t pay tax or anything on our TPEs though unless we absorb someone e.g favors .

Since we use the Gallo TPE on favors my guess is that 3 is adams , Ariza and george hill tpe . Adams TPEs the first to expire.

Yeap we need a struck off team that is desperate enough and have smaller deals which may or may not include expiring.

I don't even understand the idea of signing Spencer to a huge deal and then flipping him later on. Someone has to explain that to me. How would that even make sense? Why would he ever want to do that? Wouldn't you just want to pick your own team to be with long term?

Pelicans won't gamble on Kemba (would have done it before with Bledsoe/Adams if that had to happen).

I guess Mavs is the most likely scenario but I don't want Porzingis :(

Wizards are happy with more flexibility since the Westbrook trade (except maybe if we take Bertans but his contract is trash)

Can players be added in a S & T? I guess no but not sure. Like Markannen S & T + filler for Kemba?

I'm no expert so someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. My understanding is a team can do multiple sign and trades with another team but they are separate deals and cannot be used to make up the salary differences from other transactions.

yeah so we couldn't use a Markannen S & T to dump Kemba.

this is a common misconception that was actually disproven last summer when the thunder traded steven adams. zylan cheatham, kenrich williams and josh gray were all s&t from NOP which were aggregated into the trade to make salaries match.

it is just rare for such a thing to happen in practice.

RealGM has this on the Utah pick, if true that's pretty good (probably won't matter because they are likely gonna still be a very good team in 2024

2024 first round draft pick from Utah
Utah's 1st round pick to Oklahoma City protected for selections 1-10 in 2024 (conveyable if Utah conveys a 1st round pick to Memphis in 2022), 1-10 in 2025 (conveyable if Utah has conveyed a 1st round pick to Memphis by 2023) and 1-8 in 2026; if Utah has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Oklahoma City by 2026, then Utah will instead convey its 2028 2nd round pick to Oklahoma City [Oklahoma City-Utah, 7/30/2021]
