A little surprised about McLaughlin. They don’t seem to care all that much about him.
I guess it doesn’t hurt to offer the QO though

They just moved Rubio, seems pretty crucial now

I know some of your fellow Wolves fans have been optimistic on McLaughlin in the past. Has that changed or do you just not like him as much as some of the other posters?

Per Shams Ibaka is opting in. Not sure if this is good news or not for the Clippers. They need him, but no idea what his health looks like.

He was great 2 years ago. Shot the ball well, one of the best IIRC A/TO ratios in the entire league and was great at attacking the rim. Honestly seemed like a home run pickup, even if his defence was limited.
Then they didn’t sign him. So I figured he was gone.
Then no one signed him.
Then he came back as a two way and didn’t impress.
And now I’m wondering if there’s something more that I don’t see. I don’t hate the guy and wouldn’t mind having him back but the fact literally nobody seems interested makes me cautious, you know?

I’d prefer a vet myself. But then again the guy I wanted, Wright, just got traded so I don’t have any specific targets in mind.
Not to mention there’s some smoke that they might be playing Nowell at backup PG.

Not sure it matters if Kawhi is out for the season.

Just to make sure I am not crazy....the August 2 at 6pm ET "teams can negotiate with free agents" date is when we will start seeing Woj/Shams/Etc start announcing free agent deals, correct? I believe this is how it has been but I want to make sure I am understanding.

Yeah he's been throwing a ton out there lately, so I doubt it's true.
It makes no sense. Collins may never play again and Presti certainly doesn't currently have access to his medicals to even think about taking a flier. And Dinwiddie wants paid. If OKC was willing to pay him, no chance he's ruling them out as an option before offers have even been made.
Collins for the minimum or something fairly Low if nobody else does offer him . Maybe a two way (is that allowed?)
Dinwiddle doesn’t make any sense at all

Just for fun before we overpay Evan Fournier and Dennis Schroder...
Rockets receive: G Caris LeVert, F Rodions Kurucs & three first-round picks (2022, 2024 and 2026) and four first-round pick swaps (2021, 2023, 2025, 2027) from Nets | G Dante Exum & 2022 first-round pick (via Milwaukee) from Cavs
Rockets trade: G James Harden to Nets
https://www.theringer.com/nba/2021/7/20/22584360/damian-lillard-trade-portland-trail-blazers-ben-simmons
Talented core young-ish guy, 3 first round picks via Brooklyn (and a separate one from Milwaukee via Cleveland) so 4 altogether plus expiring (Exum/Kurucs) with 4 pick swaps.
Julius Randle, Obi Toppin (can trade him for first elsewhere similar to Houston's approach on Jarret Allen), Kevin Knox (expiring), 3 future first rounders ('23, '25 and '27) plus swaps in '22, '24, '26 and '28 not only equals the Harden return, it leaves us with literally just enough cap space to MAX Kawhi Leonard.

That doesn't seem so much as confident about Kawhi returning to the Clippers as it is he told the Mavericks he is not going there.

Front-office executives say that if the Blazers eventually move Lillard, they can expect a return rivaling or surpassing what the Nets gave up for James Harden

According to Stein, the Mavericks were initially expected to wait to see if Kawhi Leonard gave any indication that he was thinking about leaving the Clippers. However, the team has moved off of those plans, says Stein. That’s probably a signal that Leonard is unlikely to depart Los Angeles.

I have been told by a very good source that the first issue became Kawhi was unhappy with the Clippers medical staff, because he felt that they, early on, misdiagnosed and underplayed the extent of this knee injury.
Just saying...

Correct. It's the legal tampering period.

Ballsy giving up Randle. From what I read around here I thought he was nigh untouchable

It's always amazing how fast some deals get made.

Stein reporting despite their limitations on what they can pay him, expectations are the Bucks will retain Bobby Bobby Bobby.

He played a great role for them and got some good exposure. I'm skeptical teams will be lining up to pay him a bunch more than what Milwaukee can offer though. He's still largely the same guy who got few offers outside of Milwaukee last year. Maybe a few teams throw out the full MLE.
I will not be shocked at all if he takes a discount to stick around. Just don't think it will be some crazy number. More likely what happened with Justin Holiday last year in Indy. Whispers of full MLE offers, but he stuck around for about $6 mil with no report about some giant offers he turned down.

If they manage to pull that off, I really want to see them move Lopez for some guard depth.
Even with DDV coming back they are so shallow at guard.

Per Woj Iggy's TO declined but Dragic picked up. Which is really interesting. Conspiracy Chuck says Lowry to Miami, Dragic to a 3rd team wanting a PG, stuff to Toronto.

Would Dallas finally take Dragic for one year into cap space (could they keep THJ’s cap hold or would it take other moves?) if they are runner ups in the Lowry sweepstakes? Or, would Toronto just take Dragic for the year, and maybe look to re-route him for some value later?
