Scott Perry knows nothing but mediocrity.

My deal is this - it’s fine if they don’t want to overpay role players. That’s smart. Remaining patient and going another year developing guys SHOULD be the plan but their moves in the draft made no sense if this was the thinking all along. They traded the 19th pick to save $2.4 million and have one less rookie on the team. Why not just make both picks and get 2 solid rookies in the first round (plus McBride and Rokas). That move makes zero sense. I understand they wanted to keep a liquid asset for a future trade but we lack talent and we don’t want to pay role players (at least I hope not) so why not make the 19th pick and add 2-3 more young players to the team and develop them instead of signing mediocre free agents? Because Thibodeau is old and wants to win now?

I mean the team has no direction right now. They want to remain young veteran but compete yet also are hoping for a big free agent/trade that may never come. Those assets may end up being as valuable as the Celtics assets when I’m the end all they got out of it was signing Kemba.

I think it's a combination of all those things and I still don't think they see us as a stable organization. Might need another playoff appearance to show this past season wasn't a fluke.

Nah, I like your Hahns approach. Just very realistic, pragmatic, and more even keeled. Knicks fans, other media tends to make leaps for no reason. Like we just made the playoffs, but our "core" is RJ and Randle (fairly young). Media is painting it as "we need to put all the assets in now and get a 30+ year old allstar" okay, but that changes the balance there, maybe we have to give up our 20 year old. That makes us worse. Instead, say we take on Dragic and a draft pick? Basically make moves for guys between 20-26 to make the most of when we are ready to make our run. Patience.

Yes, this. I thought we got terrible value on every trade we made but I also understand that the long game is to acquire picks because they are worth more than players in blockbuster deals. And I also agree with that plan… if that Charlotte pick is packaged for Dame I won’t even remember the original trade on draft night.
