The difference is Jalen Brunson makes 1.8 MM this year. Then he has a 3.4 MM cap hold next year with bird rights. So you could fill our your entire team bring in guys then go over the cap to sign him to a contract by keeping his rights with his low cap hold.

The only logical conclusion is that they want Payton back.
