So this means the Pelicans preferred Graham at 4/47 over Ball at 4/85?

I am choosing to view this as Mitch saying our ceiling as a team isn't high enough with commitments to Monk and Graham on the roster. Don't hate not getting complacent and trying to raise our ceiling but what's the plan.

Ooff the remaining FA PG list is brutal once you get past Mills, Schroder & Dinwiddie.

Honestly, Graham at 12m per year is probably better than whoever is left.
We think we're gonna get screwed by giving a bad contract. We end up being screwed in a completely different way.
The draft pick is nice, but I'd rather have swapped him for a player. I highly doubt NOP make the playoffs next season too.
Mitch had a really good draft. Free agency gets an F, barring some unforeseen cheap-but-not-trash acquisition at PG. By now, the cupboard is largely bare.
Man. The more I think about that trade, the more I hate it. That was stupid. Literally screwed us.

There is no way we're done, we've got like $15M in cap space now

Maybe we're still after Holmes.

Re: S&T With New Orleans: The Devonte Graham Thread
We got a first round pick for Graham?
I'm sorry but anytime you are offered a first for a player like that you take that deal!
I'd rather have Bryn Forbes tbh

Hmm
We better bring in Mills or make another deal
Mills is more of a small shooting guard than a point guard though

This my theory.
Do this and use the MLE on a PG like Mills. Would be a big fan of that off-season.

Re: S&T With New Orleans: The Devonte Graham Thread
Graham was a good team guy and I loved him here (except for the start of last season) but come on guys, he is replaceable. And we got an asset out of it.

That’s all well and good, but when it’s going to 4/$60M for Ish Smith, I mean, what’s the point? I guess Mitch loves Brad Wanamaker that much and we’ll save the cash? There’s no plan at backup PG.

look, if we get desperate, I am happy to dust off the shoes for a measly $2 mill

Lol
Still, Glad I am not so negative all the time

We're going to add an Aussie PG - Diop, Exum, or Mills. I hope we go with Diop.

Maybe let's get more than 24 hours past the start of the FA period before we say there's no plan

Re: S&T With New Orleans: The Devonte Graham Thread
Exum has looked pretty crappy at point guard for Australia. To loose with the ball and tends to drive hard with no plan b, gets stuck in no mans land, then throws it away. needs a consistent shot.
saying that, i said the same about Ball in the NBL and look how that ended up

I wonder if this might turn into one of those "careful what you wish for" things.
A LOT of posters wanted to show Graham the door. They got their wish.
Be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Kupchak has talked about about the team's lack of depth a lot the last few months. He has to have the inside track on a player or two in free agency to let Graham walk to the Pelicans.

Re: S&T With New Orleans: The Devonte Graham Thread
I suppose they could shift Rozier into the 1 for reserve minutes with a small $ reserve point. Give burn to BOUK alongside LaMelo then rest the ROY and bring Terry in.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
