Re: 2021 Free Agency News & Discussion Part 2
I'm beginning to wonder now if even the post by Kyle of the deal, was to help Masai squeeze more out of Riley.
Masai helped Lowry get what he was looking for in money (3 yrs $90M) and location.

I'm ready for the tank, give Barnes and Precious all the minutes they need.
Maybe Masai and co. have a Porzingis or Simmons trade up their sleeve but that's not going to make them a serious playoff team.

It's about the future: Simmons 25, OG 24, GTJ 22, Achiuwa 21, Barnes 20 and Flynn 23, with their one vet in FVV at 27.
3 years from now, when all of today's current stars have aged out, it will be about beating the next generation of stars (Giannis, Doncic, Jokic)

$60M/3yrs isn't a big ask for a guy like that and we need to move Dragic's deal anyway. Dinwiddie can't get that deal from the Wiz without a S&T and maybe the Nets don't want any long term salary back. Not like we're going to get anything better from Dallas.
As for Simmons, if we're dealing Siakam for him, someone needs to send more value to Toronto. Siakam is better than Simmons.
Why do we want Dinwiddie exactly? I'm nearly 80% sure we wake up with a Dragic to Dallas trade for Powell +.

We are not getting Ben Simmons, and we probably aren't trading Pascal who's currently injured

In Raptor Ball I Trust

Pass on Porzingis. But even if we get Simmons who I think is being underrated around the internet, I still wouldn't consider us a serious playoff team at all. Raptors making another trip to the lotto wouldn't be the worst thing at all. It's just people didn't want to take that direction. I don't mind it personally as I don't think we're one or two pieces away from contending.
With that said. That would be going agaisnt everything Masai and Bobby have shown thus far. As their strategy has always been retooling and building continuity and cohesion. Then pounce when an opportune star becomes available (ala Dame). But even with Dame our roster isn't ready for the next step. We lost a lot of depth creating our championship roster.

Well for me, it would be so that we can move FVV for some viable pieces if we choose to build with/around Siakam.
But even if you're not fond of that particular idea, Dinwiddie is much better than whatever we'd get from Dallas. That right there is beyond debate.

Dinwiddie doesn't move the needle one way or the other for the Raptors. He doesn't push us into contending at all and I'm not sure I want to pay him (other teams hesitance also). I don't dislike him or his game, but he's coming off a pretty serious injury and I always like to watch from afar in those situations. Hey, I'm not sold on Powell + either, but ill take a draft pick with him hopefully. But most importantly the market for Dragic is gonna dry up soon and the Mavs with Luka seem like they HAVE to make that move.
Other options are the Pelicans.

Pelicans are out. They S&T Ball to the Bulls and took back Satoransky and some other players and they just inked Graham to a deal as well.
Pretty sure they don't have any space left and even if they did take Dragic, they don't have anything to offer that's worth our while.

Would the bulls want Dragic? They want to win now. Maybe wendell carter jr? Or flip Dragic somewhere and use what we get to go after Bamba.

Dinwiddie already have 2 ACL injuries, so no thanks. Bamba also stinks.

I'd be okay with Drummond starting and birch + boucher+ precious off the bench.
Fvv/flynn
Gtj/dragic
OG/Barnes
Siakim/boucher
Drummond/birch
We still need another scorer off bench

Moving FVV seems like a good move given yesterday's predictable events

Re: 2021 Free Agency News & Discussion Part 2
Pretty sure that if they move dragic to mavs it will be powell+burke or wcs. I still dont really understand the thinking behind it. Obviously raptors and heat discussed before fa, so heat must have known raptors didnt want dragic and had an idea of what the intrest around the league were. They knew he was intrested in mavs, why didnt they drop the to and do a snt to mavs at like10? Wouldnt have this mess if dragic wasnt making twice what he should. Now its so negative that it will have to be whats mentioned above.
The loser in this mess is raptors. I undrstand why raptors helped lowry to his desired destination but it would have been better if they just had let him go

It’s becoming more and more apparent our front office has dropped the ball. The Lowry S&T, giving Trent a PO, and not signing anyone of note = a disastrous offseason. The Masai and Bobby apologists have a lot of explaining to do.

Re: 2021 Free Agency News & Discussion Part 2
I have no idea what we’re doing.
- Win now roster, draft a project.
- Center was our biggest hole last year, obtain a tweener forward and pass on two guys who didn’t sign astronomical deals with their teams because you couldn’t get a third team involved in a S&T that you knew you were going to do months ago.
- Pick yet another tweener, no offense big (Achiuwa) over a guy who can actually score the ball (Herro) and again failing to realize that the NBA is now about scoring in the playoffs. I normally wouldn’t assume this to be true but with the other baffling decisions they’ve made this off-season, I’m not ruling that out.
- Gave a 22 year old a player option after two years in a good faith effort to create extra space that you’re not going to end up using.
I just can’t.
