Otto Porter appreciation thread

Post#1 » by drsd » Tue Aug 3, 2021 8:06 am

Otto Porter Jr. has agreed to sign with the Golden State Warriors.

Porter finished the 20-21 season with the Orlando Magic, appearing in three games following his trade from the Chicago Bulls.

While he was never to be in the Magic's future, his brief time with the Magic was important. Coaching staff clearly stated his positive locker-room presence. In that, he helped integrate Hampton and Carter to the "business" of basketball; almost every player moves on mid-career.

He turned down a MLE with "not-GSW". I wonder if that was Orlando. It seems like the kind of deal that would have been offered. As I agree, he is at a need position.

I'm not going to lose more than 10 seconds on this, sorry. I couldn't care less.

I don't think anyone expected Otto Porter Jr. to be back in Orlando next season.

Nothing but the best to him.

Very talented player, but also a injury riddled one.
4 years ago I would have offered him a lot of money to join the Magic, he was a beast. But right now i think bringing back Ennis on a cheap contract makes more sense.

All the best, Otto!

From $28.5 million last season to the veterans minimum with Golden State and still only 28 years old. His career did not go as expected.

This is a TRAVESTY!!!!! Just kidding, he was never part of the plan here. I never even considered him part of the team at any point.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

He would be a good asset, but we really dont need him after drafting Wagner.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Was really thinking of trading him for a young player or something in a S&T to a playoff team. GS, LA, Dallas, etc.

Taking Porter as an expiring allowed the Magic to dump Aminu. That was a priceless move for me, and I will always love Porter for that!

Now that we know most of the trade, we can ask ourselves, for 2021/22 would we rather have i) Vučević and Aminu, or ii) Carter, Wagner and the Bulls 2023 FRP?

Porter made that happen!
