Re: CJ TRADE IDEAS
MPJ was scoring with ridiculous efficiency against Blazers in playoffs, Morris has been playing like a 6th man of the year and Rivers constantly torched us in the 4th quarter.
Just don't tell me that's an example of good defensive performance, please.
(and yeah, all those guys were somehow slowed down to look like ordinary men again in the next series against Suns)
No defensive chemistry can fix the desperate lack of size, that this roster has at wingman positions.

Re: CJ TRADE IDEAS
I am talking about the starting lineup with three guards and Covington and Nurk. I am talking about what IT did during its time together on court. I am not appluading any other lineup used in the series. We are talking apparently about two different things, and one of us choice to ignore published data regarding lineup performance.red_power wrote:MPJ was scoring with ridiculous efficiency against Blazers in playoffs, Morris has been playing like a 6th man of the year and Rivers constantly torched us in the 4th quarter.

Money is getting handed out like candy in fa, is CJ still overpaid? Maybe marginally but i’d rather pay him 32 than lonzo 22 mil per, Lowry 30 per, an ancient Paul 30 per, etc

Simmons + Hill for McCollum + Covington + 2023 FRP + 2025 FRP
I'd take Simmons for McCollum. Swap Covington for DJJ and no 2025 FRP.
We could play Simmons at forward.

Portland indeed is now in position to wait out Morey with the Powell signing. The entire league knows Philly has to trade Simmons but it likely will take most of the summer before it gets done.

Personally i think i’d do it with both frp’s. Simmons would be considered a top 5 player if he could shoot but nonetheless his skillset is unique and worth ponying up for imo

Would be totally fine with CJ+picks for Simmons if for no other reason than to stop the Dame+CJ(+Powell now?) treadmill. But Simmons is a flawed player and the move would be pretty binary - either it works, he buys into the system, and elevates the team - or it doesn't, he's a cancer, and the Blazers lost CJ+picks. Nothing Olshey has done as a GM screams "big balls", so I imagine his offer for Simmons is as ridiculous as Morey's - something like "CJ for Simmons plus a 1st or Thybule".

Same. McCollum and 2 picks is worth the lineup. Adding Covington defeats the point of going for a real strong, rounded starting lineup with multiple defenders. We remain 1 defensive forward deep, have a new hole in the starting lineup, and don't have future assets to fill that hole.

Re: CJ TRADE IDEAS
Adding Simmons to this team makes RoCo absolutely expendable.
He could still be quite useful because of his 3 point range on offense but not a must-have player anyway.

Re: CJ TRADE IDEAS
lots of interesting ideas. Many discussed to death, some notskoharry wrote:I've got a few ideas. Obviously there might need to be alterations, but I like most of them
CJ for T Harris - not a fan of Harris. He's really overpaid for his production and his defense is just as bad as CJs, just at another position. If Philly adds in Thybulle (go Huskies!) I would do it. If we would have to add Roco as many Sixers fans demand it defeats the purpose
CJ for Siakim - Straight up I would definitely do it. The stickler is does Toronto need CJ? I think they most definitly. Shot creation is their primary shortcoming, along with no center
CJ for Boucher and OG - Heck yes! Not sure Masai would do it but Raptors fans most certainly would not
CJ for B Simmons - discussed to death also. Sixers fans want either more or nothing to do with this deal. Portland fans are usually willing to add something but usually not enough to bridge the gap
S & T CJ for J Collins - Atlanta doesn't need CJ
CJ for Morris, Kennard, and Rondo - feels like giving up a dollar for a quarter and two dimes
CJ for Randle, Knox, and a 1st - This would be fantastic IMHO. Not sure if the Knicks would do it after adding Fournier though, if at all. Randle is probably worth more than CJ alone
CJ for Brooks and Clark - Interesting but I believe that doesn't work financially for Memphis
CJ for Hunter, Huerter, and a 1st - Again, ATL don't need CJ
CJ for Wiggins, Paschall, and a 1st - I don't see the Warriors needing another SG. Depending on pick protection I would be tempted though. Wiggins has developed into the Warriors best perimeter defender which is why they probably wouldn't consider it
CJ for Dragic, Herro, and Precious - Dragic and Precious are headed to Toronto and I feel like the value is light for us. It doesn't address our forward depth and defense

The only trade partners that seem likely to me at this point is Philly, CJ & Covington for Harris or Simmons + Curry or Indiana for Turner/Levert…

Agreed with all but CP3. I’d trade CJ for Paul right now, absolutely.

I’m not including Covington for either Simmons or Harris. It defeats the point of the trade IMO. For Simmons we significantly reduce offense for a minor defense upgrade, and for Harris we significantly reduce defense for a neutral offensive switch. I would add to CJ to land either one of those guys, but the goal would be to put one of those guys next to Covington. Simmons next to Covington is a massive defensive upgrade. Harris next to Covington is just a better balanced roster by moving Powell down to SG, and we put Covington on the superior offensive forward talent of the other team. I’d do 2 firsts with CJ for Simmons or 1 protected 1st with CJ for Harris. Bench players would also be options if Phili has interest in any of them.

Re: CJ TRADE IDEAS
I think Simmons will never suit up for Philly again and MUST be traded due to his poor fit with the Sixers, aside from the obvious public flaming he took by his own teammates. With Embid, Harris and Simmons all trying to work in the paint... it's just too damn crowded for all three. I too would take either Harris or Simmons straight up for CJ, and wonder what Morey thinks is off in value. CJ seems like such a great addition to the Sixers to me... I just don't get it. As is a Simmons or Harris for the Blazers. Balances out both teams. I don't really care about the player for player value side of it... Both teams get better. Period. Either one!
Seems like it doesn't really matter much though, because the obvious target for Morey is Dame and he obviously thinks he can get him. So what we have is a chess match between GMs. Morey's bet: Dame returns from Tokyo pissed about our latest attempts to improve the roster, and demands out. Olshey is betting: He can either CONvince Dame that the moves he's made are enough and Dame will be happy with it, or if not, CONvince him that some other BS plan is in the works.
Olshey appears weak to me, and his moves (so far) have been equally weak IMO. I now worry that Morey may win this matchup of egos. Olshey can only hope for a good faith trade, but I hear that's not Morey's style. Hopefully the player's agents will be able to help work it out.
CJ now appears as a "MUST be moved" player. BUT WHAT IS THE REAL MARKET TODAY FOR CJ? Is there one? What other team is going to now want to add CJ's $30+ million/year? NY just got Kemba by the way... so who else is STILL looking? Good question to ask is, What's the remaining market look like for Simmons? Also, Who else wants to deal for CJ?

I’d even add a 1st.
I don't think anything with Siakam is a great idea, and it's even harder to like when adding more outgoing value in Nurkic. The main reason being that Siakam is injured and expected back 1-2 months after the season starts. Lillard wants to have help, and intentionally starting a season down a key guy is basically the opposite.

Siakam would be the type of player to flourish next to Dame though, as far as players available for CJ he is easily at the top of my list.
People keep talking bout Tobias Harris or something and I think that is a lateral move for CJ that doesn't make us better or worse. ****, Siakam might only be gettable right now due to injury concerns, if Siakam was fully healthy he would likely be outside of the CJ+pick price.
