The Knicks are apparently out of the Dinwiddie running.

Is anyone left who can offer $15M+ besides the Spurs?

It'd be a sign-and-trade, so really anybody's in play - unless Dallas is ready to foot a giant tax bill, though, I don't know who we'd be bidding against at this point. With Dinwiddie, Schoreder, and Reggie Jackson all un-signed you'd think that we're in pretty good shape. (Although I believe there's some kind of cap to what LAC can pay Jackson, which means we'd have to sign him outright; I don't foresee us clearing enough cap to do that at what he considers an enticing number.)

I don't think anyone is in play. Brooklyn can't afford to take back salary in a S&T because they're WAY over the luxtax. I think it's really just us (with our fake TPE) and under-the-cap teams.

We probably still can, in theory. It depends if New Orleans wants Sato. I guess they probably do since Lonzo is gone.

That and no other PGs of note with Bledsoe vacating the premises. Given his low usage, I am guessing Zion will love him...

Lonzo wasn't the one keeping the ball out of Zion's hands. It was all Ingram and Bledsoe.

Ball was literally the only guy on the entire roster who tried to setup the league's most un-guardable player. I cannot tell you how much it pains me to see Lonzo shipped out when he could have been locked into a completely legit 20m/year contract.

That's going to be a fun front court in Cleveland - with Allen, Mobley, and Nance. If they can add a knock-down shooting SF, they could be really good.

Well yeah - it's not a win now move because it makes them worse in the short run - as Jonas is better than Adams - particularly on offense where he helped with spacing by learning to shoot 3's. They likely made this trade because they're targeting someone in particular at 10. And if they don't get that target, it's probably a bad trade by them.

For sure, Valanciunas had his career-best year last year.

But... it doesn't have to be one particular person they're targeting at 10; there may be 2-3 guys they think fit the bill -- making the trade a likely success.

Even so, I can still see the deal for NO as well. They'll get a good player at 17, & they may have in mind to keep Valanciunas. Having a 5 who can shoot the 3 will make for some happy evenings for Zion!

Seems like the Philly/Toronto trade scenario is ramping up with Lowry/Simmons at the heart of the deal.

I understand the Philly perspective. For Toronto, I would think they would then be looking at as many 3 point shooters as they can land if they do something like this. They have tremendous flexibility with their cap... I think only Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby & Malachi Flynn are guaranteed.

I think it would look something like:

Simmons/Flynn
VanVleet/Bembry
Anunoby/Watanabe
Siakam/FA
FA/Boucher
#4 pick

Clearly they would need a C that can spread the floor (those don't grow on trees). Watanabe, Anunoby, Boucher and VanVleet are reasonably good 3 point shooters - but they would need more.

Unless they send him in the deal in a sign and trade, they also have Gary Trent Jr. Not a C but he can shoot 3s. No idea what Philly is doing, though, and I'd be surprised if the Sixers traded him for what the Raptors would realistically offer.

Morey is on the Danny Ainge side of the GM spectrum where he makes almost all of his headway in trades where he rips off the other team, pats himself on the back through the media, and struggles if he can't find takers for his pitches. The rumors thus far are with teams like the Raptors, Spurs and Warriors who tend not to be good marks. I'm guessing the show is for some other teams he's trying to bait out. Hopefully teams call his bluff and dare him to keep Simmons all next season.

Brad Stevens picked up Bruno Fernando now that he is acting as Danny Ainge used to.

They do have 3 RFAs that I assume they will sign in Duncan Robinson, Kendrick Nunn and Max Strus.

This doesn't seem like the year to go wild on FAs.

People like Woj are now speculating or perhaps indicating that Dragic being picked up means the Heat are going to acquire Kyle Lowry in a sign and trade. Raptors fans don't seem excited about getting Dragic although perhaps they would throw in a young prospect like Precious.

Scottie Barnes and not Jalen Suggs was bold.. and might be a mistake.

They have lost Lowry.

That surprised me a little, because Dragic looked like he lost a step last season - especially in the playoffs against Milwaukee. I think Miami's in a rough situation this season. They didn't have any picks. They have Butler and Bam - but not much else going forward. And neither of them shoot from outside. Herro has to take a big step forward this season. Ya know who could actually help them is Thomas Bryant - a big who can shoot from outside or inside.

And with Kawhi Leonard becoming a UFA... I could see vets wanting to join a Butler/Leonard/Bam trio...

Kawhi Leonard is probably never going to play for the Clippers again and he will be with Miami a couple of seasons from now in my opinion

This opens up my Sato to Washington idea.

I think its supposed to be Lonzo to Chicago, Sato+filler (Thad Young) to Charlotte, Graham to NO.

That makes me very sad and I wonder how we could have gotten in on that.
