With Lonzo and Caruso on board already I like the fit much more, although the defense is still a big issue. But I've always liked DeRozan and he definitely brings things we need...I'm down. Ideally I'd want it to be a 2+1 deal, so he expires the same time as Vuc. Then our older guys become FAs in 2023 while we still have Lonzo, a re-signed LaVine and Pat.

If AK actually manages to turn Thad and scraps into DD, and then keeps Lauri on a team-friendly deal (say 15 per year), we've got to build him a shrine to worship at the altar of Lithuanian financial engineering. Crazy thing is, that's a possible actual outcome where you have a vet-heavy team with enough young talent to keep everybody's legs fresh.

Then spend the MLE or whatever the smaller exception was called, on a 2/3-year deal for Danny Green and let's go dethrone the Bucks next season:

first, a double S&T is complicated. if that's the route they're trying to go, there's a lot of moving pieces on the market and they have to make sure all the details align and in the right order for it to work. so, it makes sense this is taking a while. plus, I'm sure DDR is evaluating his options, as well.

second, AKME could be the ones holding this up if they've got MN and SA in a bidding war. or they're trying to facilitate this as a 3 way deal which would make it even more complicated.

I would think Coby would have to be in the deal to get close to the salary Demar wants, which is likely 20 million.

But then you flip Lauri for the Minnesota deal (Culver, Prince, McDaniel) and your roster is filled out and you still have the MLE for a backup point guard.
