Spurs are functionally the last team with capspace but they have to renounce DeRozan to get it. They are likely working every angle to see if they can maximize their position. Given that there are no other teams competing with them, they can take their time.

One funny possibility: The Spurs don't really want Derozan but they aren't huge fans of Lauri at the salary he wants. Both the Bulls and Spurs are shopping for a 3rd team. Would be interesting if Minnesota sent stuff to SA to get Lauri.

Perhaps AK is having to find and revive Denzel from his post-Lolla haze in order to have him agree to a deal to make the salaries work.

DeRozan meeting with the Clippers is bad news.

I'd love to add DD - I think he's become severely underrated.

But if it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. He adds some things that are missing on the Bulls (in particular the ability to draw fouls), but the fit isn't ideal in that it forces Pat to the 4 a bit early (which may limit his development) and is at best a passable defender (and that's after some improvement) and questionable 3 point shooter.

If we get DD even with him being on the Clippers radar means we outpaid someone for a FA (through S&T, but whatever). This would mean AK actually got the dorfs to spend money! Not holding my breath for it, but stranger things have happened.
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

I wouldnt be surprised if Demar goes with the clips. Rumors have him wanting to play back home in LA for some time now and this would be prim opportunity to do so.

not worried about the clippers. don't think demar would take a taxpayer mle-level paycut unless there were 0 other options for him out there, don't think the clippers have anything of note that the spurs would be particularly into.

if he ends up in LA it's because he wanted to be home or the spurs were never interested in lauri, in which case, whaddaya gonna do

I think warm weather is AKs kryptonite. Also, Demar is from California...Hard to compete with that :(

Minessota, are you still on the line?

What can the Clippers offer? Bulls can beat any offer and the Clippers have no cap space to work with. He's not going to pass on tens of millions to sign with the Clippers.

The MLE from a taxpaying team like the Clippers is 5-6 mil a year with California 10% income tax plus federal on him.

Cool story but I’m not concerned.

Players take pay-cuts to play where they want.

ie. Bobby Portis signing with the Bucks for 4.5M...Bobby could easily make 2x that especially after that championship run.
