Talk to me about James Johnson

Nets just signed johnson to replace jeff green. always loved that guy/hated playing against him with toronto miami. does he have anything left? (like replace jeff green as a 7th man left, not like big a major factor). We need Def and toughness up front.

Nothing special really, can put it in the floor, but not great at it, can shoot, but not great at it, can defend well enough, has some bad TOs, he entered RC's doghouse after teams COVID episode and didn't see court, I didn't see any reason for benching him, but that's how it went, one hugely positive thing that stood out to me, not very relelvant to the Nets, how he took care of the rookies and went out of his ways to help them on court.
He was paid ~18 mils in DAL, for the vet min, he's a great value.

He would have been more useful against the Clippers than what Redick gave the team, that's for sure. :)

He was decent as long as he didn't try to do too much. I remember some really bad TOs with his passing.

That´s essentially it. Has some good moments but overall not very good, especially when he tries to take over.

Yeah, I hated seeing him go for Redick. I want James Johnson or Marcus Smart on this roster for the simple fact, I do not want to see Marquese Chriss or one of the Marcus Morris shoving our MVP into the first row of camera men under the basket. I know Marquese Chriss wouldn't be trying that B.S. if James Johnson was on this team. He'd piss his pants if James Johnson stepped to him.

Hoops isn't hockey, but somebody has to retaliate when an opponent tries to sideline Luka.

Positives: Can make plays as a point forward in spurts, decent defender, very tough.

Negatives: Sometimes gets in over his head with his playmaking. Sometimes it looks amazing, but most of the time it will drive you nuts. Doesn't stretch the floor like Jeff Green would but he can hit the open shot from time to time.

If he signed for a vet minimum contract, that's great value especially on a team where he won't feel the need to create.

Plus he knows karate.

It's useless in basketball, but it allows the press to fill up vacant air space

He can play defense and can playmake, but he's not much of a shooter and he can turn the ball over a lot. He's a bit erratic. But he's tough and if he's open, then he can knock a shot down. He's got active hands, so that's good.

You shouldn't expect too much from him tbh, but he's a cool dude to have in the locker room, I guess.

And yes, he knows karate.
