Re: The "Dude": The Mitch Kupchak Thread
Mitch implied in that interview guards will be the priority with the free agency money. It makes sense seeing as though there are a lot of 4's and 5's on the roster now. I think that means Devonte will be resigned and MAYBE one other guard.

Re: The "Dude": The Mitch Kupchak Thread
Seems like we just need a backup PG (re-sign Graham?) + a backup SF/SG to push the twins out of the rotation and/or fill in for Gordo when he takes his annual sabbatical. I'd like to see a reliable vet for the SF/SG spot.

Re: The "Dude": The Mitch Kupchak Thread
Well looking back on this thread is really interesting. A lot of people bought into narrative surrounding Kupchak. Obviously it is not just him making picks, and actually, according to Buzz Peterson, a lot of that falls on Larry Jordan, but he has made mostly fantastic moves and we have the best outlook that we have ever had as a franchise moving forward. Some of that is luck, a lot of skill, but it is telling just how much more of a professional organization that HSE seems to be since the current regime has been in charge with Kupchak as captain of the ship that is our FO.

I read that interview, came across as a credit grab from old Buzz. But the difference is telling with Mitch at the helm.

I'm of the opinion Buzz Peterson should just not give interviews. The less he speaks for the franchise, the better.

Re: The "Dude": The Mitch Kupchak Thread
Listening to a podcast this morning and the Dude sounds super high on Kai.
Said had Kai been on the board at #11 they would have seriously considered taking him there - but they had Bouk ranked a little higher so when he was there at #11, they went with Bouk then instantly looked for a way to get a send 1st to get Kai.
Said he is hopeful that the pick we used to get Kai by sending a future 1st to the Knicks will end up in the 20's.
Mentioned that Bouk is a little shorter than ideal, but he has great polish to his game. Said as far as rookies are concerned Bouk appears to be a little bit further ahead than most.
Said JT Thornet is still only 18 but has some good feel. Expects him to spend a lot of time in the G.
Scottie to also spend a lot of time in the G.

Dude does not care at all to tip his hand, we never know wtf he's doing.
Never would have guessed how this off-season has gone so far and I really don't know what we're planning.

I absolutely LOVE how tight lipped our front office is.
All the "experts" talking about this that and the other then the Dude pulls a Plumdog trade and then a trade back into the 1st for Kai outta nowhere.
Dude's got some serious poker face - and I dig it.

Zion wanted Zo back, NOP had to do something. Only way I get letting Mitch fleece them for that first-round pick. Guess the Dude knows an opportunity when he sees one.

Re: The "Dude": The Mitch Kupchak Thread
Very curious to see what develops in the coming few days. Mitch has been harping on depth while simultanueously letting Tae Monk and Cody (so far) go. I have a lot of faith in him though. Exciting stuff to come I hope!

Re: The "Dude": The Mitch Kupchak Thread
It takes a pretty special level of delusion to believe in what Kupchak has been doing in free agency and trades since he got here. He's got an eye for draft talent, I'll give him that.
But yeah, don't be shocked when we're a play in team again because we have to give 25min a game to Ish Smith or somebody instead of bringing back two of the better backup guards out there.

Oh come on, we haven’t finished the roster and have already picked up a future first round pick to go with the 2 incoming first rounders from this draft and snaked a shrewd choice of vet center for cheap
Plus we have cap space now and for the future
You are way off

Re: The "Dude": The Mitch Kupchak Thread
Lol. Mitch is getting borderline as much backlash for letting Kemba go that a guy who is horrible in Biyombo, a backup center who is meh in Zeller and an average replaceable player in Monk. Graham I can get, but we got a good pick in return. I love the offseason so far and it's not done yet

Plus, time has shown that he was absolutely right in trading Kemba for Terry Rozier and that terrys’s salary was a good deal
I don’t know maybe it’s all the mistakes from the cho regime causing ptsd

"Good" is subjective. It could be good in a couple years, but that doesn't help us escape 34-48 this upcoming season.

Again, we're not even 24 hours removed from the start of FA and you're already on here locking in our performance next season.
