Bulls trying to go all in, but that lineup will be atrocious. DeRozan is washed, our pick in 2023 has a good chance to go straight back to the lottery again.

huh? you can not like his playing style, but he just put up his 8th straight 20+ ppg season last year. He isnt washed up.

He had a career high in assist, i have to admit. But scoring wise he’s constantly regressing but you could find the reason in him not taking that many FGA.

Maybe washed is the wrong term, but i thin DeRozan is past his prime and will never be a winning player, i think of him more like Vucevic who was also an empty stats guy, but a blackhole on defense.

how exactly is he regressing. his shooting % was the 2nd highest in since his rookie year. his FT% his highest in his career. his FTA his highest over the past 4 years. like i said, you can not like his style, but he has NOT been regressing, far from it.

Ironically, Lonzo is now probably my favorite player on their roster. However, this is still an 8-10th seed to me && they have to make the playoffs. Karnisovas seat will catch fire next offseason if they don't.

Pat Williams is a huge swing player for them. Lonzo/Pat project to be the only plus defenders in the SL. They need him to develop into a top 75 All-defensive team type defender sooner rather than later. I'd be decently encouraged after last year in that becoming a real possibility. Not sure it happens this year though, so a lot rides on Lonzo's continued development.

Especially because they traded so many FRPs away. In the DeRozan trade another first rounder is involved, you have to assume it's the one from 2025, looking at the Stepien rule. They're crippled with horrible contracts if it doesn't work out, plus losing the pick in 23' and 25' if you don't look at the protections.

Anyway his seat should be hot if this doesn't pan out, it's an absolute win now move acquiring Lonzo and DeMar, can't see that lineup working, especially defensively.

And it gets worse... DeRozan is 32. Vucevic is 31.

They need to work out an extension for LaVine, but they can't do that now because they don't have the cap space. They have to let him hit free agency and hope he elects to stay.

Karnisovas might be salting the earth in Chicago if this season goes pear-shaped. If LaVine walks for nothing, their future looks really bleak with only aging vets that won't net good returns in trades and no draft picks to work with. They have to win enough this year to convince LaVine to stay or Karnisovas will have his name etched into the annals of history alongside Billy King and Isiah Thomas.

dont they have bird rights? cant they go over the cap when they do? I'm not a salary cap guru

To me Derozan sign is not bad,is beyond bad, atrocious could be a good word to describe it.

You give a frp and two seconds to do a sign and trade for a 32 yo forward who can not absolutely defend or space the floor, paying him 85 millions in three years???

let put this way:if weham would do something like that how our board would react?

The issue is that for them to give him a max contract right now, they have to fit it in under the cap, which they can't do. They are otherwise limited to giving him a 20% raise on his current salary, which he won't do. So basically, to give him the contract he wants, they have to let him hit unrestricted free agency next year and use the bird rights to do so, which is a dangerous game to play.

All I can say is.... the Bulls and Lakers are really trying to set back the clock in terms of gameplay.

The difference is the Lakers have two top 10 players to offset the shooting deficiencies. I can't say the same thing for the Bulls.

Vuc, Lonzo and LaVine are all 38-40% three point shooters, only one that can't is DeRozan but he's crafty around the basket.

Biggest issue for Bulls will be defense. Backcourt defense is fine but everything else is not great.

I kinda wanna argue they only have ONE (1) top-10 who is .. not really injury-prone but scary.. and that is AD. The rest are too old to be considered top-10 EVEN with LBJ. Because if you consider LBJ as top-10 then I can say that the LAkers have 5(five) top-10 not in their primes anymore in Dwight, Melo ,LBJ, AD with RW somewhere between top-15

Without checking stats, I think Marcus is better now.

We still have 3 traded player exceptions and the bi-annual exception.

Yeah that's the one, that's not as good. He played for the Lakers last season.

I was genuinely shocked by the DeRozan trade when I read it earlier. Holy **** everything about it is **** horrendous. The asset play alone is terrible, and then you consider the Bulls defense. Yuck. DeRozan can only really guard 2s now so who the hell is guarding the 3?

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t think DeRozan with the Bulls is a good fit.
