Obviously, this is common sense....but the Raptors need to squeeze out as many assets as they can in this Lowry deal. The reason I say this is because we barely have any trade assets outside of our core 3 in FVV/Siakam/OG.

Gary Trent just signed, so he can't be included in anything. We just waived Bembry, Watson and Hood. Baynes is going to get waived tomorrow barring a miracle trade.

Chris Boucher and picks are literally our only main trade assets (assuming our goal is to add to the FVV/Siakam/OG/Barnes/Gary core).

The more picks and players we get back the better. So at least the raps have more to include in any potential trade scenarios. Even as salary fillers.

Dragic is more than a human TPE. You can put him in a bigger deal. Keep him on ice and wait for Luka to get mad or for an injury somewhere. No rush, like there was no rush with Kyle.

People need to chill. The fact that this is taking a long time is a good thing, not a bad thing. We've already secured one good young asset and now are trying to turn Dragic into other assets. Dwight Powell is a likely piece, and I think he's underrated, and Nick Nurse knows him and his game well from Team Canada.

The game is now poker. Dallas really wants Dragic. Miami really wants Dallas to take Dragic, Toronto knows this and is trying to extract maximum value.

There will still be more dominos to fall once this deal gets finalized in the next day or two, but overreacting because the raps didn't race out and blow their wads on the first day of free agency is silly. Now that all the teams with big cap space are done messing around, the value deals are happening. This, and trades, is where raps can flush out the roster.

You'd think that this would had to be ironed out PRIOR the Mother F S&T deal! Like are you suggesting that we didn't have a deal in place to flip Dragic before agreeing to the S&T ??? This is total BS!

In theory, you have to agree to the S&T first and then work out the details. None of these signings are final until the 6th anyhow. Guys can and have, reneged on their verbal agreements to sign with specific teams. Maybe the Mavs are looking at moving one of their prospects for a depth C so they can replace Powell/WCS production, or something like that.

I get all of that and I'm sure Masai had plan A, B lined up. Now it looks more like plan C or D.
If we agreed to do a S&T with the intention of keeping Dragic as a fall back option then OK . But if we never intended to keep him, I'd imagine you need to find out if another team can trade for him otherwise why going into all that trouble for ? To end up with Achiuawa as the centre piece and eat all of our cap space on Dragic ? I don't think so.
Masai is a one of the best GMs. Feels like something fell apart along the way and they are now trying to salvage the deal.
We shall see but it ain't looking good right now. FA pool is drying up by the minute!
