I really wish we could have signed a legit veteran big man who could help mentor wiseman....we need a big body for him to practice against and learn from

All I want is a player to make Looney a bench player. That's it. I don't care if the guy only makes $.50 an hour.
In 1971, the team moved across the Bay Area to Oakland, and changed its geographic name to Golden State to symbolize the team as representative of the entire state of California

Much rather have Chriss than Kanter.

I wouldn't. Kanter could serve a really good role for us, that is strictly backup minutes. Would love him clearing the glass an setting screens on offense for our backup guys.

His defense is really bad though. I get his positives, I think the negatives outweigh them for this Warriors team.

I'll take a Joe Ingles for sure....

But at this point unless it's a trade let's just go with what we have and give some playing time to Moody and Wiseman.

What would we be giving up In a potential Ingles trade?

The good news is that getting OPJ and Bjelica for what we paid seem like really solid additions, especially while retaining the TPMLE.
The bad news is that most of the guys I had been eyeing for that TPMLE are falling off the board in a hurry. I would have loved to see Robin Lopez or TJ McConnell, maybe Patty Mills, but they all got snatched up. With Lopez gone, a lot of the lesser candidates also went off the market. I agree Kanter is a poor fit, but we're quickly getting to where there aren't many center options. I like Chriss, but he's not an all star in the best of circumstances, and people seem quick to dismiss that he's coming off an injury while worrying that Klay is coming off an injury.

Oubre is becoming an interesting case to watch. The market was very, very active today. A lot of players got signed or moved around. But with all that happened, whether we want him or not, Oubre is still dangling in the wind. We may find that ultimately nobody was willing to give him what he thinks he's worth. It only takes one team, but there is a big difference between 1 and 0.

PG: Curry
SG: Klay, Poole, Moody
SF: Wiggins, OPJ, Kuminga
PF: Draymond, JTA, Paschall
C: Wiseman, Looney

That's 12 guys for sure. Guys sitting on the bubble: Lee, Mannion, Mulder, Payton. So one of those 4 has to go no matter what, and for anyone we add, another has to go. I personally don't think any of those 4 are big losses if it comes to that. One way or another, I'd like to see another PG (maybe Mannion, but that's a reach), and another center.

EDIT: I forgot Bjelica, so he probably ends up taking that center slot. Also forgot Jessup, which tells me unless he really shows them a lot, he may get stashed for another year.

Kanter has an elite skill set, that we just happen to need. Looney, Wiseman, Green and Bjelica will get most of the minutes at the 4/5, so in a limited role, Kanter could really help.

I think Belly will grab a roster spot, which would push it up to 13.

I think the answer is that the team would love to have him, we'd all love to have him, but it would be extraordinarily difficult to find a way to make such a trade work. Even if we loaded up Paschall (who they supposedly like), Lee, and Mulder, and used draft picks to make it more appealing for them, we'd still be nowhere enough salary to take Ingles back. We'd have to include a center (Looney or Wiseman) where we're already thin, and such a move would arguably create more problems than it would solve. The only way I can imagine is getting creative with Oubre.

Just noticed Lee is a free agent. Just gets messier.

Ah. The trade checker has already rolled forward; I saw Lee with 0 years remaining. But looking more closely, Curry and Looney also have 0 years remaining in the trade checker, and they clearly aren't free agents.

Curry | Poole
Klay | Moody | Lee
Wiggins | Porter
Green | JTA | Kuminga
Wiseman | Looney | Bjelica

This is where I am at right now. Lots of players who can move up one position (Poole SG, Moody SF, Porter PF). 13 players, and I have not added Paschall who I would try to trade. Mannion I'd be fine with on another two-way deal. Starting spot at C is up for grabs.

I think we could use one more big for insurance, and I would love to have Chriss back – we could potentially also wait a bit with him. I am not a fan of adding a player solely because he's a good rebounder. First of all, how much would the player help with our overall rebounding numbers if he plays in a very limited role? Second, to put someone in the game just because they rebound means you have to change your overall strategy to accommodate this player for his rebounding, and most of the time I don't think it's worth it.

Then, ideally we should also have another shot creator on the roster who can play some PG. I really like Poole in that role but as an insurance and someone who can also play next to Poole when Steph sits, another shot creator (individually and at the team-level) does make sense. Not sure if anyone is available who is worth it but we should keep an eye on it throughout the season in case we strike out in free agency.

Lastly, I'd be happy to see Iguodala back with us. I don't think his position is one of great need for us but he would be awesome for the young players and our team chemistry. So I'd be fine with him on a minimum deal if we don't have two clearly better options on the table, and I'm not sure we really do – not least because I understand the hesitation to use the TPMLE due to the luxury tax implications.

Jock Londale agreed to a 2-year deal with the Spurs.

The team still needs one more key player. If they get RJ (the #1 option left), or Schroeder if RJ resigns, I'll take that and run. To me Batum was the perfect x factor to turn this team into a championship contender, RJ is the next closest thing even if he doesn't play like he did last PS.
