I don't hate Ben that much, his arrogance and lack of drive are definitely red flags but hes talented. Idk what it's gonna be tho, not sure I like us paying a "premium" for a guy that constantly wilts in the playoffs. But he's still a good mobile defender with great size and some really creative transition offense. Idk maybe Nurse can be the Ben whisperer.

i will say, if theres one coach who could connect with ben its nurse. watch this man at lsu and its night and day. maybe if hes the man here under nurse it would force him to shoot

beyond the coaching aspect, if there's one exec in the league that can really sit down with Ben and have a frank discussion with him about his career trajectory and hopefully get him to buy in, it's Masai. Just like he was able to do with Kyle.
Ultimately it will be on Ben to make it happen, but he needs an environment where there's accountability - something he really hasn't had his entire time in the league

Trading Siakam+ for Simmons would be the icing on the cake of a terrible off-season.

If we can get Simmons and a stretch 5 for Siakam + the assets from the Lowry sign-and-trade, I’ll be less upset.

No one getting emotional. But if you paid attention, you'd realize FVV is the now the team leader, about to enter his prime, and will be leaned on more than ever with masai's youth movement. And again, we arent losing our top 2 leaders in a matter of days, that's just foolish.

Then this team will continue to lose for the duration of his contract and will leave at his first opportunity.

Based on recent trends Fred may be the one we're sending out because he's furthest from the 6'9" archetype. I like Fred as the leader though. If he's gone, leadership goes pretty down hill.

It'll further solidify our all-defense position-less lineup. Too bad nobody can shoot lol.

I’m not particularly high on Simmons cause his work ethic isn’t something I really would want to work with but if the team thinks they can make things work with him, then I guess we can try

Another thing though is Barnes. What’s the plan if we have both Barnes and Simmons on the roster? They’re very similar in what they bring to the table

As long as the idea is to have all 3 of Barnes, OG, Simmons starting then I’m cool with it. Our offense will be ass but the defense would be scary

We're probably keeping birch guys. So a precious/birch center rotation really isnt that bad. Especially knowing we will probably be closing a lot of games with OG at 5.

What we need is another guard off the bench. Preferably a scoring guard. This is where the jalen harris loss hurts because he had potential to lock that position up. We could have had something of a bench mob 2.0 goin. Idk what the options are to replace that.

I mean...we could keep dragic but that money is crazy and idk how comfortable flynn is playing off ball yet.

Daniel Hackett posted a interesting trade. We are t going to want to take back more money in Burke. We aren’t going to want another C in WCS and he doesn’t provide any value to the deal. To take Powell requires sweetener.

Personally speaking if they don't budge I have no problem keeping Dragic until trade deadline. IMO Dallas doesn't really have much leverage as Donic wants Dragic and they need to help lessen the load Luka carries. This deal happens and I think we pretty much have the framework give or take.

Why Fred Sr. Paskal and OG will be here for some time to come. Home grown talent. Championship pedigree. Leadership. Continuity. Sure we dangle Paskal to see if we could land a Dame but our window to win is now wide open. Those core three will have to ask to me moved for probability to go up or if we are all in on tanking but I doubt we are. We are going to reg season develop the newbies and add vets to a play in run if presents itself. Team will avoid the lotto at all costs.

I appreciate this outsider's take. People are talking like we've got Dallas over a barrel with a 35-year-old point guard on a $19.5m contract, which simply isn't the case. Would be shocked if we get anything of value back for Goran.

But looks like the Mavs fan needs a reality check too – Schröder's not taking $10m to "mess with the lakers." lol. He's a human being who understands that he can't play basketball forever. He made $16m on the Lakers last year. He's not taking a pay cut to play with the Mavs who are still far, far away from contending.
