Re: 2021 Free Agency & Off-season
So, before camp, we're roughly at:
Brogdon/McConnell/Sumner
Levert/Lamb/Duarte
Warren/Justin/Craig/Martin
Turner/Brissett/Jackson
Sabonis/Goga
Granted, you could also count Turner and Jackson with the centers. You could count Brissett with the SF's. You could count Criag with SF or PF. You could count Martin as SF or SG. You could count Warren with SF or PF. You could count Sumner at SG. You could count Levert some at PG. Lots of positional flexibility this year.
But looking here, could realistically see a want/need for another backup PG. Might have to move Lamb for it, though.

In theory, if you could get Patty Mills to sign for around $7-8m, AND you could dump Lamb elsewhere into a TPE or cap space, we could turn Doug into a S&T with San Antonio for Patty Mills to fill that other backup PG spot? Would need it to be only 1 guaranteed year, though, as we'd need the space to potentially keep Warren in the offseason.

I’m sure you heard Carlisle or Pritchard say that this team had sub par athleticism and flexibility. This clearly was their mission in the draft and free agency this year along with defense! I’m thinking you could be right that maybe they’re watching and waiting for Lou Williams or another low cost option. I also believe they’ve got to look into moving Lamb.
Could Lamb work in a sign and trade with Phoenix or San Antonio ?

He doesn't work with Phoenix. They only had non-bird rights on Craig, so they could only S&T him for up to 120% of what he made last year (vet minimum), so no more than $2m outgoing. Just can't work the S&T there. For SA, they would have to want him, but then it would be MORE salary going to them and using up their cap space, so we'd have to pay them.

Good to see Myles working again after the Plantar Fasciitis.
Love to see Myles swishing those 3s
He needs to shoot with this type of confidence during games
Myles being such a good teammate is simultaneously a great but also not so good thing - I think he defers a bit too much and it's gotten in the way of his own development
I think a good way to use Myles may be to stagger his minutes from the rest of the starters so that he spends a good amount of time playing with the second unit, where he can hopefully be more assertive and take on a bigger load on offense when the other starters are resting
It's also another reason why having 3 or 4 good weapons on offense (Domas, Brogdon, Warren, LeVert) is in some ways not optimal - there are just too many mouths to feed on offense
LeVert is quite high usage, and Domas needs his touches to initiate the offense. Brogdon, even though he can play off ball a bit, also spends a lot of time handling the ball. And there's also Warren
It's one reason why I hope the team can ideally condense some of the starters and insert a good role player like Justin or even Brissett into the starting lineup. Hopefully Myles can be bumped up from being the 5th guy on offense to the 4th, so that his offensive potential is not wasted

Joe has been tearing up the CBL (Chinese Basketball League) the last couple years offensively. However, there’s reports that with Covid, they may ban Americans, if not all foreigners, from the league for a year, and something like 3/4 of the league supports that. With that, we’ve seen a lot of the CBL “stars” sign to play in summer league this year.

Re: 2021 Free Agency & Off-season
I see the Pacers have had an official McConnell signing although the video isn't online yet.
The season end time is confusing. The release says 12:01 PM on the 6th but everyone is saying midnight which is 12:01 AM on the 7th. 12:01 PM is noon, not midnight.
EDIT: they've posted a short story ith a still picture but no video with press questions.

I haven't independently verified these numbers, but Yossi is usually pretty close on things like this. As is, if just those 5 teams end up with the roster/payroll they've built at this moment, Indy could be looking at a $11+m cash payment....so long as we don't go $1 over the luxury tax line. Generally, luxury tax payments are collected, half the tax payments are kept at league level for assorted business, which in this case, might go towards retiring Covid loans the league provided, balancing out the league escrow, or other avenues that benefit the teams at large. Then, the other half is generally divided equally amongst all the non-taxpaying teams.
Basically, Indy should make sure that we don't end up anywhere near the tax, so that no potential player bonuses throw us over and cost us a lot of money.

Re: 2021 Free Agency & Off-season
"We are set to have a historic season of luxury tax payments"
From a business standpoint, sounds like this is absolutely the season to stay under the tax threshold, in order to receive the payout from all those teams that are paying the tax

LA Lakers $ 189m ---- Time Warner contract $250m ... They're good.
At least the Pacers will receive $11m for staying out of the luxury-tax, or for not competing. The NBA is an absolute joke.
Pool and split all local TV deals before the upcoming season and initiate an iron hard cap. Issue solved.

Hard no for the owners

And hard no for the players

I’d love to see it happen. And maybe more of the local tv deals get shared, if not 100%. It already is a bit due to revenue sharing, but just after accounting, not before hand.

Exactly Scoot. After the fact the damage is already done. Pay to play bs…
The Lakers alone reap more from Time Warner than the bottom 20 teams combined. You think these 20 owners would vote no?

Goes to tell you that those owners get compensated elsewhere

Could be as simple as the shared taxes, including repeater taxes, is comparable to what the shared local TV money would be.
At some point a hard cap would have some stars thinking about forming their own touring team a la the Globetrotters.

The NBA has a strong monopoly. If such a team existed what would be the point?
