Was that before, after or during his drug binges, slacking off during the off-season, not investing in film sessions or working on improving his game?

The fact he was drafted at all was the opportunity. He was the one who squandered it.

That said, maybe he wakes the **** up and sees first hand from guys like James and Westbrook what commitment and 100% investment looks like and enjoys an improved season.

Urgh the Lakers Monk? Definitely won't be rooting for you now.

So we could’ve brought him back on the cheap and still didn’t?

I'd say like 99% of NBA players he took a 80% discount to play for the Nets or Lakers.

I don't see any player on his first free agency taking any discount. If he did wow.

I bet we were the team that offered Nunn a lot of money and he turned it down to play in LA.

These kids are just too young and want the fame and Cali lifestyle

Where did the Lakers sneak in Nunn?

Good luck, hopefully Lebron can inspire him to work it out.

I still think he can be decent.

He probably won’t play regular minutes there , just fill in during injuries and rest nights

This doesn’t surprise me. I felt like the Lakers and/or Warriors would both be a nice fit for Monk.

Hopefully they don't try to make him a PG, I've seen a lot of that in the way-too-early depth charts for LAL. He needs to be a SG to excel.

It's weird. It seems like the world outside of our board has a very different idea of what they think Monk is.

I've seen things saying he is a knock down shooter - but his strength really has been driving.
I've seen things saying he is a point guard - but his decision making is questionable.
I've seen things saying he is a lock down defender - but he is not an engaged defender.

I agree with you, he really needs to be an off-ball SG to bring value.

Yeah, I also saw him being touted as '3&D' on the general board last night

PGs with Lebron mostly drain wide open threes which he can do. ( A lot of his points in Charlotte were assisted.) I’d be more worried about him guarding opposing 1s in the pick and roll.

To me i just always enjoy the narrative shifts from other fans

Malik on the Hornets = meh, bust, overrated, not good, can't even start

Malik goes to LA = sniper! 3&D! What a steal! He's going to be great!

LA/NY media will hype anybody up. Remember the Iman Shumpert hype his rookie year for like an inefficient 10/3/3? Monk deserves a lot of the praise he's getting but it's getting blown out of proportion by some

I'm so glad we're done with this dude. 4 years after being drafted and he's still using the learning to be a pro excuse. No accountability. Maybe if he was worth a damn he would've earned minutes over those "younger players"

How can you expect him to learn how to be a professional when he can’t even learn you should always iron a shirt before wearing it for the first time.
