My Coby for Brandon Clarke fantasy is spreading....

But I wouldn’t draw that inference necessarily. Caruso is very different. But coupled with the interest in Rose, drafting Ayo, there is definitely some smoke.

Hey guy. I have to say I like a lot of what you say and enjoy your posts. BUT not on this.

I understand it was unusual. Not an NBA season we have seen before, and hopefully never see again. But it was the NBA. Teams, players, and all. The rules, procedures, and rewards were laid out. The games played, and a winner crowned.

The Lakers won. It was an NBA Championship acknowledged by the NBA. Teams, players, and all.

Maybe you didn't like. Most of us (NBA teams, players and fans) didn't. But under the circumstances it was all we could get. And that was a good thing.

You are on an island all by yourself. Take my hand, comeback to the land of "It is all we could have." The official NBA record book shows it. That is the bottom line. No matter your opinion.

Peace.

Kirk Hinrich was dunking on people? If he had Caruso’s athleticism he would have been an all-star.

Easy tiger, it was a joke. And if he was hinrich it would be a great signing. Hes not as good as Hinrich. But i like the signing.

I know Hinrich could dunk and I know Caruso isn’t nearly as good as Hinrich. Just pointing that he isn’t a Hinrich clone and way more athletic.

I love Alex Caruso. He probably won’t start at PG, but I bet he ends up finishing a lot of games. That is winning basketball.

Eh, Steven Noh thinks that teams can go under the cap in the summer and still use the BAE, so I don't believe a single word he says... anyone that un-knowledgeable is someone I ignore 100% of the time.

Your comment shows that you did not watch the video. There’s not a whit of Stephen Noh in it. Just 11 minutes of highlights of Caruso playing the best on ball guard defense that you’ve ever seen, against many of the best players in the league.

It’s actually the furthest thing from lazy. The value in both players is their defensive tenacity and ability to fight through screens and irritate the offensive players. And they are both 6’4’’. Pretty fricking great comparison actually.

*Sigh*

Noh is the one who said "EPM is the best all-in-one metric" -and I don't believe anything he says.

And I didn't watch the video, no need to - there's a reason they call it "highlights" instead of "lowlights". EVERYONE looks good in their highlight reel.

Even without watching, I can guarantee that Caruso doesn't play "the best on ball guard defense I've ever seen". Because I've seen Scottie Pippen play on ball guard defense. I've seen Gary Payton play on ball guard defense. I've seen Sidney Moncrief and Alvin Robertson and Michael Cooper and Michael Jordan play on ball guard defense.

Caruso is an outstanding defender, but "the best on ball guard defense ever"? That's comical.

Respect for mentioning Sidney moncrief in a post on defense. Please take me off ignore now.

Okay I’ll accept your point about my hyperbole. Perhaps it was due to having been subjected to watching the Bulls’ guards play defense over the past few years. But Caruso is an outstanding defender. And can shoot the 3. I think he’s going to contribute a lot to winning. I can definitely see him closing games for us. And I’d like to see him get a shot at starting them too.

And you ought to watch the video. It really is something.

Don’t underestimate Caruso possible mentorship for a guy like Dosomu. There are now possibly 3 + defenders for our both starting lineup (Lonzo, Lavine, and Pwill) and our bench mob (Caruso, Donso, TBJ) with plenty of firepower on both lineups. Note the defense conc at the point of ball handling players which will allow defensive neutral big men to thrive.

I’d still keep Coby around and I think he fits in great with both Ball and Caruso, those guys will both play better with a scorer like Coby as he will take offensive pressure off of them, give them an easy outlet to pass to or take off ball pressure and we need LaVine to be able to take a break and our offense to still function well. This is a perfect role for Coby right now I think to just focus on establishing his strengths as a scorer.

Id say Lauri is the guy likely to go to pick up a defensive big but if we still have the MLE I don’t think we are really backed into a corner with Lauri either but that is the guy I see fit problems with DD and Vuc. Again though move Lauri to the bench, pick up a solid vet defensive big with the MLE (I think we need someone that already knows what they are doing there and maybe help PAW) and that works too.

Coby played out of position last year and looked much better at the end of the year. Not many guys in the NBA can provide his explosiveness off the bench at such a cheap contract. He's also the backup 2 - not like we really have anyone else at that position. We will need his scoring off the bench.

Hinrich was a legit starting PG. Caruso, not so much. Both white, the same height and good at defense though.

I could see the FO trading White along with Lauri and Brown if we have a high profile target in mind.

That said, I think there was a lot of discussion that White is well suited to be our off-the-bench scorer. I think, with the holes we've filled so far, that role is now an important role he can fill as our back-up SG.

I see Green as a 3-D guy, who would more likely supplant Brown as our back-up SF.

I have a feeling Coby's value will go up as he can focus on his strengths this season. Even if we're looking to trade him, I'd wait for his stock to go up. I don't think teams are that high on him atm. I can see his per minute #s and accuracy #s going up coming off the bench with a much more competent team around him.

And this team isn't done yet long term. AK said last deadline the plan was to get respectability to attract the top free agents. If all goes well and a star does put Chicago on his list, young players like Coby on rookie scale contracts are the kind of asset teams want back vs Danny Green type contracts.
