One big difference between this upcoming season and last is that we aren't relying on Dipo to be a top 3 impact player for us. We've got the bulk of our rotation set and anything Dipo could give us this season would be a bonus -- a potentially significant bonus at that

Another difference is that we'd be incorporating a Dipo that's had corrective surgery and proper rehab versus the Dipo that never actually recovered from his 2019 injury (and botched surgery, if you believe his new doctor) and was essentially a ticking time bomb playing injured

Unless you’re a doctor or a physical therapist, you saying Dipo is done is the same as Trump saying the elections were stolen…

yes the elections were indeed stolen

Believing in either side of the duopoly is what they want the people to do. In the end they just want power and neither side of the aisle cares about “we, the people”.

I swear to god if the Mavs are the third team here and screw us again... From this point on they should be blacklisted from dealing with Miami for life.

Once Luka's a free agent we need to steal him from Dallas.

Cuban would be screwing himself if he pisses off Luka.
And Dragic with Luka would be a nice recruiting tool…

Saw this link on the GB:

https://www.nba.com/stats/players/shots-closest-defender/?Season=2020-21&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&sort=FG3A&dir=1&CF=GP*G*50&PerMode=Totals&CloseDefDistRange=2-4%20Feet%20-%20Tight

Duncan led the NBA in 3PA vs tight (2-4 feet) coverage and hit 37.7% of them. Tight coverage accounted for nearly a third (32.2%) of Duncan's 3PA

For perspective, 16.6% of Steph Curry's 3PA came vs tight coverage and Steph hit 36.9% of them

So if I understand correctly we are at about 133 mil and the lux tax is at 136 and hard cap at 144?

So with our roster incomplete and needing to sign vet min contracts, we are going into the lux tax regardless but didn’t sign nunn because it would get us too close to the hard cap without signing other players for the min?

Yes, I'd suspect a lot of DHOs are in that count so while the defender was 2-4 feet away, Bam may have been screening them giving Robinson a quick but clean look. It's a specialty move that Duncan has worked hard on becoming good with, too bad it's not a go to move you can count on in a pinch but a play you hope to catch the other team offguard on throughout a game. All the other players at the top of that page are creating a lot of their own space to get a shot off with a defender close. There's context to the stat and why Robinson has gotten off way less close shots then most of the others near the top of that list.

Including a rookie minimum salary for the empty roster slot, we have next to no wiggle room if we make a trade.

He's in a special category, only 1.7 of the salary is a cap hit.

Can we even sign Dipo to his veteran minimum and add two way contracts?

It's a designed play that you can run in halfcourt sets and if Bam can get more assertive then it's a play that forces a defense to pick their poison. It obviously shouldn't be the entire offense, but plays that put the defense into a reactionary mode is what executing halfcourt offense is all about

2, maybe not, you just need a 14 man active roster, 15 is max. You might be able to get Lowry and/or Duncan to take a little less money(say 150k out of their 90 mil) to stay under. We still don't know the actual contract numbers and they can be altered a little bit before the documents are signed.

Surely we are going into the tax this year? Even signing 3 more vet min guys will push us over anyway, might as well utilize the BAE and rest of the MLE to get the best guys we can to round out the roster. Makes no sense to be "all in" but not willing to spend a few mil to fill out our bench.

Really not going to like it if we end up rolling with Vincent, Strus and KZ taking a big chunk of the bench mins.
