They arent a tax paying team, so they would just need to sign Vanderbilt for 8M as a starting salary. I would like 3/21M with declining salaries.

Here's a wild idea:

Bertans for Tobias Harris.

We can make it work with our fake TPE from the Westbrook trade. Philly would save a mint in luxtax payments and space the floor for Embiid. Heck, they'd probably throw in a 1st because of the tremendous cost of Harris.

It would make a lot more sense if we also exchanged one of Avdija/Hachimura for a young guard with upside.

That's thinking outside the box. I think they'd rather trade Simmons than Harris - even though Simmons is the better player - since they've basically blamed Simmons for their playoff failure, and Harris had his best season. Simmons' contract is only 3 mil less than Harris' this season. Maybe try that deal for Simmons?

What about this deal:

Wizards trade Bertans for Eric Gordon
Grizz trade Bledsoe for Bertans
Rockets trade Gordon for Bledsoe

WHY FOR THE ROCKETS?
1). Get out of Gordon's contract a year early as Bledsoe's deal next year is only 4 million partially guaranteed.

WHY FOR THE GRIZZ?
1). They need shooting to surround Ja. Bertans would be better protected by the physical defenders in Memphis vs here. They are never a FA destination and getting an elite shooter like Bertans (whom Ja would thrive with) is a need.

WHY FOR THE WIZARDS?
1). With Kispert, Kuzma, KCP, Rui, and Deni, we have a forward glut. Gordon provides a much needed backup SG.

I'd cut out the Rockets and just trade Bertans for Bledsoe.

With Beal and KCP already at SG, I'd rather just have the cap relief of unloading Bertans' contract.

San Antonio has a lot of cap room and not a lot of players out there I can see them burning it on. Maybe they want Trez , Bertans or Kuz.

Since it involves a sign and trade it can't become legal until August 6 when free agent signings are allowed. The deal is likely done, whatever it is. We just won't know about it until it is official.

Yes. I'm sure at least one executable variation on the deal is done. Dinwiddie will be a Wizard on the 6th. My guess is that Sheppard is still shopping around for better variations. Maybe the current variation has us swapping Harrell for DeAndre Jordan's contract. Or maybe it has us giving up a high 2nd round pick to dump Hutchison. Sheppard is probably looking for a way to execute the deal while giving away fewer assets.

I wonder if he's looking to find a third team to work in a sign and trade with LA that sends them bertans and gets Denis to a third team this would fix our cap situation and balance out team with out having to absorb Denis.
I don't know if this would even work with the Lakers if it would hard cap then or not but

Hernangomez is the only ok player they are loosing while culliver hasn't that been good but he's young. The wolves have a big hole at point now with Rubio gone and this fills out our team and breaks bertans contract up into 2 player. The Lakers desperately need shooting. Bad! Does it kill their lux tax bill . It sure does but they would add a huge piece to making that team work. So if that works under the cap .... I say do it all day long! I'd even do it if it was culliver okogie and layman .

Also just want to add that Leonsis is an atrocious owner of a basketball team. I often harken back to the promise that we all felt when it was announced that he'd buy the team. It's been one blunder after another since then beginning with his illogical decision to retain Grunfeld and culminating in this idiotic comment that might result in their franchise player requesting to be moved.

It definitely wouldn't be in isolation, but this could be a straw that broke the camels back situation. We already had reports that he was uncertain about his fit with the franchise going forward, perhaps this is the data point that pushes him over the line. Then again, perhaps the allure of that super max contract is enough to deal with the organization's rank incompetence and Leonsis' idiocy. We'll see in time I guess.

What makes Ted's comment especially (& colossally) stupid is that Russell Westbrook did him an extraordinary favor by wanting to go to the Lakers! He made it possible to make aggressive moves that have an immediate benefit & also help us over the future several years.

All Ted had to do was repeat some of his previous inane remarks about Russ -- "fully self-realized" etc. Thank him. Point to him as a model. Turn it into a love-fest!

In short, someone cooked up a delicious bowl of soup for Ted, & he decided it was a good idea to take a p!ss in it.

My god he is a fool. Full to the brim with self-regard, self-righteousness, & just plain self. One of those really special idiots who imagines that when he spreads his arms out wide he is able to fly.
