When we look at the stats, we see Begarin had an assist rate of 18.3% which is very high for a non-PG...especially one who is only 18.....playing in a professional league...not to mention he had that very high assist rate on a pretty low usage rate of 22.7%. Begarin's assist rate was higher than Cam Thomas, Josh Primo, Josh Christopher, BJ Boston, James Bouknight, despite having a lower usage rate than all of those guys except Primo (Primo had fairly low usage rate of 17.6% but has a crazy low assist rate of 6.5%) yet Primo was the 12th pick in the draft. Primo and Begarin had nearly identical TS%, both are 18 yrs old, both very quick and athletic but from what I've seen Begarin is a better defender, plays with more of a toughness/edge to him (Primo is good but seems soft), Begarin is built stronger, Begarin is 1 inch taller, 3 inches longer wingspan and Begarin has 23 lbs on primo so less likely to get pushed around.

He played in LNB Pro B. I feel like you would be better off comparing his stats to Damien Inglis, who played in LNB Pro A (better competition) at the same age, and Guerschon Yabusele, who played LNB Pro B at age 19 and Pro A a year later. Mikael Pietrus & Nic Batum also played in LNB Pro A when young, and are valid reference points.

Glancing at everyone's stats, I'd say Begarin has some strengths in terms of passing and defensive instincts. He also appears to be the worst rebounder of the bunch, which is concerning given his physical profile, and given that rebounding tends to correlate with NBA success.

But wouldn't the 3 guys you talked about have been 4's an Begarin a 2? If your standing at the 3 point line on offense tough to hit the offensive boards.

It should really be "Team Contract Year" with the understanding that nobody gives a crap unless you win. If there is one thing Boston should be known for is that if you go there and play well you gonna get paid.

To me, either Nesmith or Langford has to score double digits.

Nesmith has shown the promise more. a shooter who does more than just shoot. Still not sure what Romeo can ring on a consistent basis.

Starters - Smart - JB - JT for certain.

Could start - Nesmith or JR? and Horford or Timelord. -me personally like to see Timelord and Nesmith, but any combo is fine.

Bench - PP at PG, whomever of Nesmith/JR and Horford/Timelord loses out.

Romeo should get one spot. leaving only the backup 4 man.

Choices (as of now) J Parker, G Williams and S Hauser. Nigel Hayes??

Either have Parker come in phenomenal shape or start develop Hauser's pure shooting role as a floor spreader. Though I will never be a fan of Grant Williams in the main rotation, he offers a bit of everything.

who would yu guys like to see as starters and the 4 off the bench??

Doubt we see Kornet back. That last spot goes to either Nigel Hayes or Yam I think.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

I think Tatum is the PF and Josh is the SG.

Horford is a Center.

i doubt we'll start horford and williams together, except maybe in rare matchups.

PG: Smart, PP, Yam, Dunn
SG: Nesmith, Richardson, Carsen
SF: Brown, Romeo
PF: Tatum, Grant
C: Horford, TL, Kanter

that's 14 spots. Hauser is a 2-way.

What could salvage this offseason for me is Danny Green and Paul Milsap. Green has a history with Udoka and Milsap with Horford. They need to be recruiting heavily. We'd have to salary dump Dunn, Langford and Grant to make it work I think but I think we could carve enough to offer Green the tax payers MLE amount and Milsap the bi-annual exception amount.

Smart / Pritchard
Brown / JRich
Green / Nesmith
Tatum / Milsap
Timelord / Horford

If they can put together that 10 man rotation, accomplish their goal of staying below the luxury tax, and also preserve max salary slot flexibility for next year, I'll admit that Brad would have done an unbelievable job of walking that tightrope.

If the roster stays as is, I would expect a minute rotation to be something like this:

Marcus Smart (24) / Payton Pritchard (16) / Kris Dunn (8)
Josh Richardson (24) / Jaylen Brown (12) / Romeo Langford (12)
Jaylen Brown (24) / Jayson Tatum (12) / Aaron Nesmith (12)
Jayson Tatum (24) / Grant Williams (12) / Al Horford (12)
Robert Williams (24) / Enes Kanter (18) / Al Horford (6)
a slave stood behind the conqueror holding a golden crown, and whispering in his ear a warning: that all glory is fleeting

Nesmith deserves and I expect at least double that..

Good! The dude's still young and clearly was immature, but he's got talent.

Everyone has been ball washing Cam Johnson during the playoffs saying how good he is. He was a 2nd yr player, averaged 8 PPG and was the only good wing player the suns had coming off the bench - and they made the NBA finals.

I think it's definitely realistic for Nesmith or Langford (maybe both) to make enough of a leap this season in yr 2 that they have 8 PPG (we're all considering Langford a 2nd yr player next season because of all the games he's missed and cause he's same age as Nesmith, right?)
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

you do realize he was coming off surgery on his shooting hand, right? Not to mention he missed a lot of time with COVID and we knbow how much of an effect COVID had on tatum and fournier's shooting once they retuned to the lineup.

by the end of the season and in playoffs langford had improved his shooting significantly - and was one of our 3 best defenders last season.

We saw flashes from both Romeo and Aaron last year. Over his last ten games, Aaron averaged 5 rebounds and 10 points, playing 22 minutes/game. Romeo didn't see quite as many minutes over his last 10 games (16/game) and averaged 5 pts. Both played well defensively too. They certainly did not give any reason to think that drafting them was a mistake. Giving both of them more playing time will surely have a positive result.

There is a 0% chance Horford and Kanter play the same number of minutes.

Romeo whatever. I expect things from Neismith. He was one of their better wing defenders multiple games last year on effort alone. He just made alot of dumb mistakes and the rookie whistle.
