Re: Andre Drummond signs with 76ers for 1 year at veterans minimum
Long rant coming warning
I’m thinking it almost has to be brown, the guard who stole Drummonds rebounds.
I’m way too entertained that Drummond wound up in Philadelphia. They don’t really have a role for him, so that makes it seem like no one else even showed interest. Like if he signed in Phoenix, Milwaukee, Toronto, etc at the minimum you could at least say they had an actual role for him.
(These statements were wrong, but I still don’t see Simmons and Drummond playing effectively together).
And honestly I really liked the idea Drummond in a support role when he was here..think deandre Jordan with the clippers. But to have him be a central player, we’ll you all saw it.
I hate to say but I will be probably following andres “progress” all season long

Re: Andre Drummond signs with 76ers for 1 year at veterans minimum
This is the kind of mentality that separates people just doing a job and earing a paycheck, from those who shine in what they do. It doesn't matter what your occupation is;ElectricMayhem wrote:“I’ve put my hands on my teammates before,” Drummond said on the Mickstape Podcast. “It doesn’t matter who. It was in Detroit, he’s actually one of my really close friends, too. I had to put my hands on him when we first got him. I told him to do something and he didn’t do it. I gave him a warning and he still didn’t do it.”“I punched him in the head,” Drummond said. “He didn’t do it again. It happened more than once too. It was because of rebounds. He’s a rebounding player too, as a guard. He kept coming to take my rebounds, so I pulled him aside during a timeout and said, ‘Yo bro, you don’t see me trying to go for 50 every night, don’t try to come in for rebounds.’”“I just got to a point where I elbowed him in the head the next time he jumped,” Drummond said.

When your "star" is a loser, your team will be perennial losers. Looking forward to the new era.
Chef, artist, manager, trader, plumber, electrician, singer, or basketball player. You either love what you do, and improve everyday at it, or you do just enough to get by. That is what separates players like Andre, from Embiid.
This is also why I am so high on Cade as he wants to excel. He wants to win, and it doesn't matter if it's in college, or even the damn summer league, he's going to go after it as hard as he can because he loves it, and wants to punch the clock.
Andre just never had his heart in it.

I expect Drummond will leave the Sixers regretting the time, money and hope they invested in his potential. Just like the Pistons, Cavaliers and Lakers before them.
I don't think the Philly crowd will be patient when they watch him slowly mope his way down court after a missed shot or call. A killer of winning cultures IMO.

Horford is in Boston after a short stint in OKC brochrbal wrote:Long rant coming warning

In Philadelphia they have Simmons and horford, so even on the games where Joel gets a rest game Andre most likely still would be coming off the bench.
Now to the Stewart vs Drummond battles, there’s a realistic chance that Drummond might not even get off the bench for those.

Why in the hell did I think they traded him back? Still fit is horrible.

Re: Andre Drummond signs with 76ers for 1 year at veterans minimum
Drummond, Tobias, KCP, Jackson... all available. We could have reunited that magical team on the cheap.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

My God it's not wonder that team barely made the playoffs in 2015 only to get drilled by LeBron. The only useful player out of the bunch is Reggie, Tobias for MLE, and KCP for MLE if we're grading fair market value. Everyone else is garbage
And the report on him admitting he elbows and whines at his teammates for rebounding is true. It has to be Bruce since that's his thing

Drummond actually had an impact early on when he was player of the week and putting up 20/20. He unfortunately did not focus on being a lob threat and relentless rebounder. SVG tried to make him a high post hub that made zero sense.

i'm surprised jackson havent gotten picked up yet giving his post season performance with clips he stepped up for them and was shooting consistent.

Re: Andre Drummond signs with 76ers for 1 year at veterans minimum
kinda feel bad for drummond with how his career is steady goin downhill wish he'd just played into his role instead of the silly antics of him trying to be a point guard dribbling down the court taking jumpshots here and there just grab rebounds, get putbacks/catch lobs and try to contest shots thats all.

No sympathy here.
The guy made way too much money for the value he gave to his teams. Lack of development or career progression is on him for making poor choices / not listening / not giving effort. I.e. it's self-inflicted.

If he had worked on improving any aspect of his game or effort, he’d be a hall of fame center down the road. The player he is today is only slightly better than the player he was at Connecticut.
Money and everything else, I definitely do not feel bad for him.
I’d be tickled at his agent for having him opt in for 20/21 and whoever decided “who cares if the less pressure hornets are offering you a real role and a starting spot, take whatever money the Lakers offer. What’s the worse that could happen?”

What great timing that he was able to get a Max contract and earn a completely life changing amount of money.
A few years removed and he's a minimum salary player. It's pretty crazy how dramatically things change in a few years.

I have zero sympathy for dudes like Drummond who are blessed with rare gifts but lack the one thing that could truly make those gifts count.
IF he had a different mindset he's Joel or Jokic or Bam or somebody good!
Instead he's a punchline.
And now he has to see Joel damn near every day and be his back up?
The mere fact Dre agreed to that says everything about him and his mindset.
Might as well bow every time Joel walks by

Not sure this deal counts against the Sixers cap. Rumor is that Embiid is saying that this so-called "signing" qualifies as a breakfast snack. Andre Drummond had his head so far up that he was unavailable for comment. Awaiting word from Woj or Shams on this development...

Yeah it's the weak AF move that he did by going to be Embiid's backup that pretty much defines him and his career. Literally anywhere else would've been fine, beg Pelinka to come back to the Lakers to run it back
Zero pride and doesn't have a team first mindset. Dude legitimately is just a bigger rich man's Reggie Evans. I remember people freaked the hell out when that comp was made
