Damn only to end up with Josh Giddey
I log on just to find you paying rent by searching my old posts. I don’t think you even like basketball, I think you just like to troll. But in the offchance that you do, remember that my team’s GM is better than yours, and it’s about how well you play your hand.
Lol this thread was bumped up by someone else and I saw your post salivating at Suggs only to end up drafting Giddey. Trust me I have no idea who you are and really don’t care.
I guess when your team only operates as a place where careers go to die you have no choice but to brag about your overrated GM.

I mean it’s pretty clear you don’t know the game so your inability to assess talent is assumed.

okc's model is "keep it young, keep it cheap"
kd - "we were getting younger, not better"
and if that is they're model, then their best move is to get a coach who teaches and get's them to overachieve,,,,like a larry brown type. someone who also understands that okc will always be moving assets when it gets expensive
okc's fanbase is young and it loves it's team. i think the synergy lies in this confluence of the city (which is kinda like a college atmosphere from what i hear) and the youth and energy of the team
maybe someone like a jay wright or similar college coach. maybe their current coach works out

SGA signed long term which is step 1.
Can't fault them for going this route. They can't attract free agents so they need as many trade assets as possible.

thunder are only a few seasons removed from having one of the highest payrolls in league history. they're just keeping the slate clean until it's time to get serious.

Yeah man picking Josh Giddey at number 6 is truly great foresight. I’m sure all those teams will be sad they missed out on a less athletic and worse shooting Joe Ingles.

Re: OKC is a disgrace
Funny how Houston is in a better position than OKC now after the draft.
Yes we have to dump John Wall and Eric Gordon, but a core of Wood/Porter/Green/Sengun/Tate/Martin Jr/Garuba is laden with potential and skill. Compare that to OKC's core which is just SGA, Poku, Giddey, Mann and a bunch unknown draft picks. Rockets core and future prospects are looking better already than OKC's

Re: OKC is a disgrace
I like where OKC currently sits. Lots of promising young talent and our roster is much better than it was last season, where we had to rest players in order to avoid winning games. Presti had the chance to draft Sengun and Garuba and passed. The Rockets GM appeared to just take whoever mock drafts had as the best available. That's not a guarantee they work out. Remember OKC still owns Houston's picks so you better hope they start winning immediately.Shock Defeat wrote:Funny how Houston is in a better position than OKC now after the draft.

Re: OKC is a disgrace
Building through the draft is more difficult than many people realize, even more so now with the recent lottery changes that increase the risk in long term tanking.
OKC has Shai locked up for the next 6 seasons, but that's still a clock for them to put together a top level team. Missing out on the best players in the draft this year knocks at least one year off that clock (this team will be horrible next season by design) so then they're down to 5 seasons. That's why they tried to trade Shai for Cade Cunningham.

This OKC system is going longer than the process, I can only imagine how much trash talk they will start getting and for how long

I was born in Adelaide, Australia and follow the 36ers closely. Giddey's game is completely different to Ingles.
He's a point guard with incredible vision and anticipation. He also has size and strength for his age. Stick him in an NBA gym, with the right diet, getting him to shoot all day, and the potential is certainly there.
Of course you could say Presti is a terrible drafter but then I'd say you're clueless too. Although you're not, and yes, #6 is way higher than anyone expected him to go.
Point is that Presti sees something and if he sees it, we have to give him credit.

Re: OKC is a disgrace
Lakers fan here but I don’t see the reason for the hate of OKC / Presti. The Thunder have had one season of tanking. Most likely this will be the their second year of tanking. If they intend to clear all the bad contracts, at worst they would be tanking of a total of three seasons.
They are either one off-season or at most two off-seasons away from being major players to be players for free agents or stars via trade. This is much shorter then our unintentional tanking and the process. #staythecourse.

We consolidated last year to get poku and consolidated in the second round. Anything else I can correct you on?

I just don't know what Presti's game plan is for building a team. He seems to draft players then after a couple years doesn't like what he drafted and turns the roster over again with a bunch of new draft picks. All of a sudden he likes foreign players. He obviously wants the 1st pick in the draft next year and is doing everything in his power to have the worst record.

Re: OKC is a disgrace
If their plan is to just keep trying to draft a star they will have to keep tanking. They tried like hell to consolidate and move up into the top 4, but teams realize how worthless it is to have a bunch of late first rounders.
