I would like revenge on France for gold and a chance to see a phenomenal Slovenia/Australia matchup for bronze. Am I also nervous about facing Luka? Not for me to comment at this time.

This is what makes these games so frustrating. With so many elite scorers/shooters, you just think how can somebody not step up? (Besides KD of course, who is just incredible.) But Australia really did play great defense in the 1st half, and we have so much depth that we just wear teams down. Our style of play changes over the years but that remains a constant. Really, really proud of how we stepped it up on defense and just completely shut them down for a huge stretch of the game.

France might be the only team that can slow down the US... maybe.

I would love to see Slovenia make it though just for the box office appeal: Luka vs. team USA.

Wonder if the gold medal game will even be on TV or if they’ll show a replay from the preliminary stages of equestrian dancing.

For all the NBA only fans that have been bragging about Jock Landale the last couple years...........what you saw in this game was what European fans saw the whole time he was in Europe. Yeah, he's skilled and he has talent, but he's uber, uber soft. That's typical game from him in Europe.

Mirotic12 wrote:Australia's coach is a moron. Goulding, Kay, and Dellavedova are absolute scrubs of the highest order. Not one of them could make the rotation of a club in a second tier European league. Easily 3 of the worst players at the Olympics.

Yet the coach played them a total of 60 minutes...........extremely stupid coaching. None of those three should ever be on the floor against any decent FIBA national team.

As far as the USA goes, Lillard is a gigantic negative every time he's on the court, in every game. He's rapidly heading to replace Giannis and D. Sabonis as the worst NBA FIBA player of all time.

I mean based on how Lillard played so far in these Olympics, not even the worst team in EuroLeague would touch him. He's been so bad in this tournament, it's actually a bit hard to put into words.

... a few weeks ago:

Australia 91-83 USA
Nick Kay 25:36 min
Della 22:53 min
Goulding 09:50 min

That run we had early on in the game would’ve beat 99% of teams and probably get a 20+ point lead. KD kept the score tight and was hitting some tough shots (as he does) with great d on him. We needed to close the 2nd quarter and go into the half up 10+ to have a chance.

USA then just turned up the d in the second half and couldn’t miss from 3.

Great game from KD, Holiday and Book.

You played a team 6X your population at their best sport. It shouldn't hurt, it's just a bad draw. Don't count on us to defeat you in Australian Rules football any time soon.

Deivork wrote:Why is Simmons not playing for Australia btw?

Ben dropped his bottom lip when he didn’t get selected for the Boomers World Cup team when he was 18. Ever since then he has been playing chicken with the Australian team. Comes out through each World Cup or Olympics cycle saying how he wants to play for Australia but then finds some reason to pull out usually in the last leg of preparations in the lead up to the tournament.

This time he said he wanted to focus on improving his skills this off-season. Of course I would have thought that getting into locker room and on the court with the likes of Mills and Ingles would be far more beneficial than sitting in the stands of Wimbledon but hey I’m just a casual fan so what do I know.
