If you hear "potential NBA lottery pick", there is too much money available to wait a year.

Kinda big for us...

Everything I've read states he will still have to wait until the 2023 class due to him not meeting the age requirement.

Reading the Coons FAQ, there are a lot of things that make a player eligible, such as being a year removed from high-school (which is what is being attempted here). But there is a hard fact, a player must be 19 years old by 31 December in the year they are drafted. Via Coons' views, I can see no exception to that.

Joshua Primo is an example this year. His birthday is 24 December 2022, so he is eligible by 7 days. If he is born 8-days later, he would have had to wait no matter that he had a year at Alabama. Yes I can see a court case in this. Especially if said player was professional in the G-league or somewhere else for a year. But for now, Bates being born on 28 January makes him a month too young for the next NBA draft.

Can anyone remind me what JI's injury status is? I think I saw something a while back on it but can't find it now. Was there word on whether he'll start the season?

Fultz, iirc, was reported to already be around 80% back, which must mean his tear was a lot less serious.

Jonathan Isaac is making strides in his knee rehab: Athletic link

When will he play in an NBA game again?

“I can’t give you that,” Isaac said, still smiling, tilting his head as if to apologize for the secrecy. “I really can’t give you that. But I’m feeling good. I’ve been able to really kind of get moving as of late. I’ve been able to get some work done with Coach on the court, so I feel good. I don’t have a specific timeline on anything, but I’m OK. I’m getting there.”

p.s. Fultz is out of his brace and is on-court for shooting. His mobility is not there at all though.

I hope this is not heart and hustle 2.0 I can’t go with a 41-41 season to miss the playoffs by a tie breaker than end up with a horrible draft on top of that.

He's not worried. The FO has always viewed him as a combo-guard, capable of excelling at 1 or 2. When healthy (*and not on restrictions*), he'll be a starter in the backcourt.

Umm we found out this information before Suggs was drafted
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

yes. But Suggs to me is more of a threat to Fultz than if we had drafted Barnes at 5 (or whoever else)

Personally, I think he will be our lead guard, so whoever is off ball (Suggs) and if they are a + shooter (which, i project him to be), I'm not worried about his lack of 3-ball. Sure, it would be nice if he could shoot 35% from 3 on 6 attempts, but not a requirement for him to succeed here. We'll see.

I have him, Suggs, and JI sharpied as starters on the best version of this team. Chuma/Wagner battle for the other wing spot and WCJ/Bamba battle for C (WC's to lose right now). RJ is wild card.

So should I start the :

" Bet on Chet "
"Don't be a hero for Banchero "
"Masterbates for Bates " ( sorry I had to and you know it )

"We swam in drama for Wembanyama"?

Too early. He is still 17yrs old so.. next next draft.

But you got the spirit. Hold it in our warehouse for now in case we still tanking by then.

Too bad, he is 4 days too young for the 2022 draft :o Damn, with him next years draft would be really really good at the top.

I believe we get a lot of lessons from Heart and Hustle Magic of 2000.

This will be a magical year for us. Let's have fun together!

It isn't. HnH was a bunch of G-league vets (as it would be called today). What Orlando has now is Kindergarten-Ball. I am curious to see if it works as the Magic will be able to out run every team in the league (that is trying to win games).

If Fultz develops a >35% three-ball, the Magic is set for the next 8 years at the starting forward slots. Then the all-in move for a FA in 2022 or 2023 would presumably be a big.
What's great is the Magic management gets a year and a half to evaluate this.

The threat is to Anthony, and also a bit, too Hampton. For me, I have to assume this is the 2022/23 guard rotation:
Suggs/Anthony at PG
Fultz/Hampton at SG

If that does not work, then there will be prompt trades. And for me, Anthony would be the most moveable player.

If Fultz does not develop a three-ball, then Suggs needs to play off of the ball.

my problem with that is Suggs became a top-5 talent by being the lead guard with the ball in his hands. now you want to take it out of his hands.

Fultz to me isnt good enough yet, that it forces the position change of a top drafted talent.
