Warriors 2021 Roster/Lineup

Post#1 » by floppymoose » Thu Aug 5, 2021 9:15 pm

Just trying to track this... so far it looks like:

Curry/GP3
Klay/Poole/Lee
Wiggins/Porter/Moody/Iggy
Green/Bjelica/Kuminga/JTA
Looney/Wiseman

That's 15. Obviously the positions are fluid for many of those players so don't sweat where I dropped them too much.

Is this the team?

possible 2-Ways beyond the 15 roster spots:
Nico
Mulder
GP3 if he is waived and then agrees to come back

Add Mulder, Mannion will likely stay on a 2 way deal

So still 15 with GP2, Mulder, and Lee at 13-15

I prefer to drop either GP2 or Mulder for an extra big. People trying to convince me Bjelica will slide in at 5 but I still feel like we need back up size given the perceived durability of Looney/Wiseman

Curry / Poole
Klay / Moody / Lee (partially guaranteed)
Wiggins / OPJ
Green / JTA / Kuminga
Looney / Wiseman / Bjelica

13 positions are filled.

Mulder and GP2 are fully non-guaranteed, Mannion is RFA. I don't expect the first 2 to make the roster, Mulder has better chances imo. Mannion maybe on another 2-way.

Belly is 6-10 and doesn't seem to have the lateral quickness to play the 4. There's a lot of posters wanting to add Chriss, whom I like, but he's 6-9 so if the idea is to add size to deal with the big bangers I'm not sure he really fits that role. If we drop GP2, then we are committed to Poole as the PG when Curry sits. And I'm OK with that but we have to accept that he isn't a "traditional" PG and won't play like one. Signing Iguodala as the backup PG while also serving as a mentor for JK and MM also works. And I think they keep the 15th slot open for now.

Curry/Manion
Klay/Poole/Moody/Lee
Wiggins
Green/OPJ/JTA/Kuminga
Looney/Bjelica/Wiseman

I think this is closer to the honest positions that each player will fill. Some will bleed into the 1 or 3 spot but none are actually long term fits there.

This is all solved by bringing Iguodala back to be point-forward whenever Curry or Dray are off the court.

I predict there’s going to be a lot of moaning and groaning about the lineups Kerr is going to employ
Most 4th Quarter Points in Final since 1991
1995 Shaquille O'Neal 11.5
2000 Shaquille O'Neal 11.5 (61.1% TS)
2015 Stephen Curry 10.8 (75.1% TS)
1997 Michael Jordan 10.7 (55.1% TS)
1998 Michael Jordan 10.6 (50.6% TS)
2011 Dirk Nowitzki 10.3 (68.0% TS)

I think the Warriors need a 1 guard MUCH more.

Players on the Warriors roster who are PGs Curry, GP2

Players on the Warriors roster who are SGs Klay, Moody, Poole, Lee, Wiggins, Mulder

Two of those players are not very good and probably should not make the final roster. But certainly there are more players who are better at 2 than 1.

What I want (FA target):

Curry/Poole/(RJ/Elfrid)
Klay/Moody/Lee
Wiggins/Kuminga/Porter
Green/JTA/Bjelica
(Chriss)/Wiseman/Looney

If they do indeed want to go with 14 instead of 15, one FA or Lee has to go ... most likely one of the FAs.

Already know what lineup he’s going to use. Everyone knows he going with small ball. All wings, Curry, and Draymond at center.

I have it looking like this as well. Lee will probably get the nod but moody should take over once he understands the system.

Once Klay is back (to monitor his minutes) I think he will be one of the first to go to the bench with moody giving him the rest. Then back in start of 2nd when Steph gets his rest. Same thing towards 3/4 quarters.

Don't forget those Curry 4th quarter minutes. No matter how many he plays, fans will insist for more after every loss.

i guess maybe they see Poole as the PG2 since we didn't bother bringing one in, and I think Gp2 makes the cut over Mannion tbh.

Steph / Poole / Gp2
Klay / Moody
Wiggins / OPJ
Draymond / JTA / Kuminga
Looney / Wiseman / Bjelica

other than that not sure/dont care, guess Lee/Mulder can fill the final 2 spots but prefer we would've brought in Iggy to at least take one of them.

i was thinking until Klay comes back Wiggy will slide down to the 2 and OPJ if healthy will handle the 3 hole

Steph / Poole / Gp2
Wiggins / Moody
OPJ / JTA
Dray / Bjelica / Kuminga
Loon / Wiseman

Possibly, not sure how theyll deploy OPJ. But considering his injury history, I figured he'd get the kid gloves treatment at first. I'd expect either Poole or Moody to start, and if not, still receive the bulk of the minutes. I dont know the severity of OPJ's foot injury, but if its chronic, he might be a pure 4 for us going forward. Either way its unlikely hes the on-ball defender, and pairing him with Wiggins means he's the scrambler, and I really hate that role for him based on his history of covering ground/BBIQ - though it was in Chicago, and I dont know how their system worked at all, assuming they had one

I have to imagine opj gets the starting nod over moody at the beginning of the season.
