The Greek law, state didn't give him citizenship until he was 18-19 drafted to the NBA,he got help from US senator that owned part of Bucks. They didn't want him despite he was born in Athens, kids from the poor neighbourhood he grew up in was called immigrant trash.

Of course he would be more loyal to his parents culture specially when Greece didn't want him until he became NBA player.....

This is totally untrue nonsense that US sports media created. It's all been debunked over and over again and again, even by Giannis himself.

Please Hakeem took the rockets to the finals in his 2nd year.
Unfortunately his Robin got injured & the rest of the team got done for drugs.

Guy was playing with G league level talent & taking them to the playoffs every year.

Also he made first team at age 24 25 & 26.
Over Kareem & Moses Malone & Ewing.

Hakeem also ran into one of the GOAT teams, the 86 Celtics.

Giannis ran into.....the Phoenix Suns. Not comparable at all.

Out of the top ten all time players that Hakeem is routinely ranked on by consensus he has had the least help.

The two best players he played with was a young but short lived Ralph Sampson and an older but still great Drexler.

Didn’t help that he went up against much more stacked teams.

Giannis is a better passer age for age and has a better motor. Hakeem though has a lot more finesse

Giannis does have a top ten all time trajectory but for now it’s a trajectory. Still a ways to go yet

Al-Farouq Aminu because he actually plays for the Nigerian team :)
The Greatest of All Time debate in basketball is essentially who has the greatest basketball resume of the player who has the best highlights instead of who is the best player

Kareem was 39, 40, and 41 those 3 seasons and Moses was past his prime as well.

Giannis has 2 MVPs, a Finals MVP, and a DPoTY at age 26, over all the players in the NBA, not just centers.

MVP is little more than a popularity contest + you need to be ok a successful team to win it. That means having good teammates. Hakeems team finishes higher & he might get a MVP in the 80s.
Giannis put up the sane stats this year as last. But didn't win it this year as his team finished lower. Your teammates matter in MVP.

Very possibly Harden deserved one of those MVPs. But he's the least liked Star of all time.

Plus Giannis run was
Injured Nets (which still went to OT in game 7)
Even series until Trae goes down
Played the Suns in the finals

Hakeem in his 2nd season beat the effing Lakers & then lost to the Celtics In a series that would've been closer if Ralph didn't Punch a Celtic & then get affected by the vigorous booing that ensued.

These are real super teams.

Sure Greek Law,all the reporting, news of the 18 year Giannis going to NBA is fake. The fact that is in the new book about him, written after his interviews.

There are Greek fans who criticised the politians about the fact they celebrated Giannis win with his history. Funny enough I know Greek students who mentioned how Giannis is a symbol of the immigrants kids who are not wanted, the xenophobic Greece today. He can be proud Greek but what happened to his family isn't nonsense by USA media. The media in Europe/ Greece isn't American....

It shouldn't be difficult for kids born in Athens that's why Giannis is symbol of a law that is against immigrant families like him.

The question isnt if Giannis is proud of where he was born, don't hide the racist parts that hate people like him. Don't erase his Nigerian family, culture. Why shouldn't he be proud of being Greek?

I didn't say anything about what Giannis said where he was from, what he feels for people that took his family in. I was talking about the lawl/state against people like him.

I was born in East Africa but i love in the Sweden I grew up in,its culture but doesn't mean there isnt racist politicians,people....

Giannis wasn't blocked from getting Greek citizenship. The Bucks and a US senator didn't get it for him. Giannis was not hated and attacked as a youth in Greece. Giannis didn't get Greek citizenship because "he played in the NBA", and all this other ridiculous nonsense.

None of that is true. It's all some ridiculous nonsense made up in USA.
