Yeah, Masai is asking for more prospect/pick value in the deal. Teams are offering junk. Dallas in particular only has longer term contracts to offer, and Masai will ask for even more value for taking those on (I do think he'd be fine taking them on, just not for free).

Dallas thinks we going to buy him out, so they don't have to give up ish. F them.. I don't see Masai budging. Unless Dallas gives us the player that MAsai wants to invest in, just keep Dragic and play him. See where the team stands at the deadline and what kind of trade value Goran has then... as said in other thread, lets not forget Goran is playing for his last decent pay day, so he ain't going to mail it in on us.

Better off letting him walk in FA than take on Powell without incentive

its that or take on dead money for no season, at least with this we get the option of someone trading for him at the deadline if he performs.

The Mavs offer must be really bad in this situation. It's nice Masai wants to stick to his guns but the Lowry situation didn't really workout for us. Seems like we are getting a worse package now than we got offered at the deadline because we would have had an expiring contract off the books already.

A player is worth what people are offering you at the time. Did we get Kawhi for fair value? No because his value was extremely low at the time.

Masai might want to accept when it's time to bite the bullet. Let's see how it plays out before fully jumping to conclusions.

This is just a reporter covering a very obvious angle. Tell me something I don't know. The deals not finalized and Masai is trying to juice them for every penny. Does this with every deal, he's never the one to budge.

I think OP has misunderstood the "resisted" bit. I took it to mean as follows...

Dallas has been the main team they have discussed a deal with, while resisting other external requests.

Perhaps they want to do Dragic a solid and get him to the team he wants, or by playing off their interest in trades in the near term, they can avoid all kinds of lowball offers and wait for a proper offer to come in from either Dallas, or another team he is OK with.

He's worth more to us as a Raptor combo-guard reserve than many people think.

If Dallas was trying to throw dead weight contracts and/or massively trying to lowball, I understand why the FO would turn their nose up at that.

We can hold onto him until the deadline, and see what the market is looking like then.

Leverage is with us. Masai/Bobby can wait it out and pay Dragic to sit at home or rebuild his value on the team if we don't get a decent offer. Masai/Bobby know Dallas' direct management is new and wants to see what they can get knowing Luca is a ticking timebomb.

And yes, as the NBA season goes on teams will want Dragic. Injuries happen, teams want an expiring for various reasons.

Let it play out. Worst case he expires or takes a buyout.

translation: Dallas offer is trash.

pony up some picks and/or decent prospects. especially if they're shoving Dwight Powell's corpse in our direction.

Same, but considering the trade with Miami was essentially "illegally" done before the Heat were supposed to have talked to Lowry, I think it would have been unrealistic to expect a subsequent trade to have been worked out.

It would be really cool if Toronto were able to pull off Brunson and Hart from this situation.

Does New Orleans need a PG still? If so, maybe they can work something out with them, get Hart in a S&T or something

Look at them, trying to make Masai and Bobby look like the bad guys.

They just signed Davonte Green and traded for Tomas Satornasky, plus they have Kyra Lewis and NAW. Not sure if that NO ship has already sailed.

Even better if the original S&T get's finalized and Masai has 2 interested buyers to bid against each other.
Everybody is losing their freaking minds. Nutbars and wingnuts have infested this forum. We've become a public lavatory without cleaning staff.

I can see Masai’s demand being Kristaps Porzingis or no deal

We can then mold Porzingis into the player we want him to be. I’d pull the trigger on Dragic and Boucher for Porzingis

Why did we agree to Dragic anyways? Our fault for this.
