Translation: "Hey Luka! We are definitely trying to get him... it's the Raptors fault because they won't just accept our BS offer... So we'll put out this little press note to our personal water-carrier to try to box them in with their own fans... We love you Luka! Please sign your extension deal tho, mkay?"

Any trade with Dallas means Raps taking on contracts they don't want, as well as multiple players back, giving up roster spots that look to be an issue. So Dallas better throw in a low protected frp or pretty much Finn Smith.

Yes. Val and NAW work trade wise.

I'm so happy that Masai is waiting for a great take not a bad one for Dragic!!

His contract is a great piece in any disgruntled star scenario. I would want more than WCS and Powell's multiple years for an asset like that - especially since he can help smoothen the transition for younger players with his creation and spacing.

Stein is well connected to Dallas as well, they are using him as their mouthpiece

We can then mold Porzingis into the player we want him to be. I’d pull the trigger on Dragic and Boucher for Porzingis

You really think it would be a good idea to have your two max players being Siakam/Porzingis. I sure do not.

Even just NAW. Anything works, they have crazy flexibility to roll stuff into that JV deal.

Best trade asset that (a) gave Miami the cap space they needed/wanted and (b) Miami was prepared to part with.

I'd say the obvious team in need of a PG is Boston. Curious if we might have interest in the following for Dragic:

Josh Richardson
Kris Dunn
Bruno Fernando

We can use Fernando as a back-up C; Dunn is a nice defensive stopper; while Richardson can be easily flipped to a contender at the deadline. The move breaks up the $19m that would be Dragic into workable chunks.

because we're getting at least Precious Achiuwa in the deal (perhaps Okpala and/or a pick as well). Miami had the ability to just sign Kyle if they wanted, us helping them operate above the cap is the incentive for them to work with us in a s&t.

Lol... Masai is saying, why would we want to trade Dragic to the Mavs when Luka wants to play with him. What do you need from us Dallas in order to trade Luka here???

we are tanking next year so no sense keeping him unless he is part of another trade... sometimes addition by subtraction

I thought the reports were that Dallas decided to wait for him to be bought out?

I remember all the talk when Denver was going to trade Carmelo to the Knicks.

Everyone knew it would happen somehow but Masai played it perfectly with the waiting game to get exactly the trade he wanted from NY
