Well, looks like the Markkanen trade is all but history unless we give up real assets/salary now

Devonte is an interesting player. On one hand, he is a great three point shooter, can create his own space out there and is a very good ball handler. On the other hand, he’s one dimensional as he offers nothing defensively and can’t do damage in the paint. Once he gets in the paint, it’s a low % shot or a turnover quite often. He’s really the perfect backup PG. So what is a really good backup PG worth for a team that is still lacking in experienced talent required to compete? I don’t think it’s $12m per year and it’s evident Mitch agrees

Yeah I’m not sure how that could work now. I’d love to see us pick him up but not if we have to give any core pieces up. I just want more 40% 3pt shooters.

I’m very curious to know what the team is thinking the long term plan with Terry is. Sell high or fully invest? He’s going to be expensive and I’m worried he peaked last season.

I don't think that was ever happening, the Bulls aren't going to let him go without receiving compensation.

And yet he’s still worth x3 times more than Monk.

And it’s evident the entire NBA agrees.

Let's hope the Pelicans make the playoffs then for both of our sakes.

I give them a 30-40% chance of making the playoffs next season.

Well that makes this a lot less exciting.

ETA: So we essentially just did them a favor?

We got a 1st round pick for doing them a favour.

We got a 1st round pick by doing them a favour.

I mean we got a possible 1st, only if it comes this year. That's not great protection, not sure why we were ok with that.

Hopefully the player they acquire with that exception pushes them into a playoff team.

Strong possibility it's a 1st.

At worst it's 2 seconds and at least 1 of those 2nd's being very early in the 2nd round.

The alternate was that we got nothing.

The alternate is we sign him. Not sure this return was enough to get me not to do that.

I was on board with letting him walk if we could spin it into a S&T for a need or do something meaningful with the space. Letting him go so we could sign Ish Smith and Oubre is pretty meh to me.

Except he didn't want to be here because he wanted to start or they sign him to an offer sheet that we just wouldn't match.

We could've matched the deal he got? I don't get your point.

Well, there is no chance in hell they are higher than 7th in the west, so the best we can hope for is Portland starts sucking and Memphis has some injuries

Will be a fun subplot to follow on here next season

The Grizzlies and Spurs took a step back; and the Blazers and Kings didn't get any better. Zion Williamson is also the best player after Dame on all of those teams. I think they're going to sneak in as the 8th seed this season.

That we had no intention of matching, so we got something for him - a possible 1st or 2 x 2nds - which is wayyyyyy better than nothing.

I don't understand some of the Graham takes on this board at times.

One second he's crap and should be cut from the roster, the next he's valuable and we should have kept him or at least got more than a future 1st (possibly conveying into 2 x 2nds) for him.

Warriors will be much better unless they have injuries again
