I mean, there were so many leaks that Ball to Chicago was a done deal, he intends to sign with Chicago in the opening minutes, etc. Same sort of thing happened to Lowry. Everyone may do it, but if you make it that obvious then what do you expect will happen?

But it's what the player wanted. I mean, this was known during last season even that he wanted to go to the Bulls. So that's not really "tampering" in the tampering sense.

Lebron and his people legit tamper, and nothing comes of it.

I won't lie though, Shams and Woj reported that deal literally 30 seconds after 6pm on Monday...

It happens every year that deals get announced at the exact time where it's possible to start negotiating. And for Pete's sake when we get fined or whatever other punishment, it's really hypocrisy because it happens all the time.

Silver is always up against the Bulls though, don't know what the Reinsdorfs did to him.

It's time to get rid of Silver he's ruining the NBA with his tampering with a formerly very good product.

If that is the case, then how is this not simply a case of Zach Lavine recruiting Lonzo Ball to Chicago?

While there a decent argument that some of the FA rules are outdated and quite stupid. It’s so ignorant that FO, agents, and players don’t have the common sense to wait, at least a few hours, to announce their deals.

It’s a sign and trade, not an unrestricted free agent signing or a player under contract. Likely requires agents getting involved.

Let me clarify: the league has thus far chosen to look the other way when players recruit.

The latest from Woj indicates this can be far greater than just fines. Can be loss of picks, voiding of contracts, and suspension of executives. This could be really bad. Don't get why this is the straw that breaks this open, but seriously. We get hosed in the lebron sweepstakes years ago and now we get flagged on something when this is the first good free agency off-season this org has ever had. Wtf.

That just seems so unlikely to me. Even if you wanted to go to Chicago at the trade deadline, you'd likely want to have at least a conversation with them as a free-agent, be wooed a little, get an understanding of they want to use you, etc. They Ball signing was announced within a few minutes, so I think we can all assume that those conversations likely happened before free-agency opened.

I think both trades get voided. If we got to this point, the league already has something. In their view, they can’t let the trades stand, or they are tacitly ignoring the issue. Fines won’t dissuade teams from doing this in the future.

The NBA is probably pissed Rich Carter, a little and young black man, is getting all these money for his clients. I would not be surprised if other agents are pissed off either because every player seems to be migrating to that agency, making more money for LeBron.

If the Bulls were dumb enough to leave a paper train, they deserve punishment. That is, of course, if they are actually guilty of something.

As far as Ball and the Bulls, unless they have phone records of calls all the two sides had to do was send each other copies of web postings about the trade which were fund everywhere everyday since the end of the the last deadline

Nobody waits for the league mandated day to start figuring out their moves and all these big agents have 50 clients, they can be talking about one and another name pops up across the table at a restaurant that's the way deals get done. Big bucket of nothing here

Quote from the recent Woj article:

New Orleans agreed to trade Ball, a restricted free agent, to Chicago on a four-year, $85 million contract for Garrett Temple on a new three-year, $15.5 million contract and guard Tomas Satoransky. That deal has yet to be finalized with the league office and could look different in its final form, sources said.

Ok, interesting. This makes me think the deal will go through but they will extract some additional concessions. Maybe?
